Happened in Louisville on Tuesday evening. Absolutely disgusting. The J.C. Penney store is attempting to identify the shoppers who were targeted to reverse the charges on their purchases. That's a nice twist, at least.

(111,222 posts)Sure, she's a bigoted POS. The real problem is the crowd standing around looking at their shoes instead of telling her she's out of line and to STFU before she makes an even bigger arse of herself.
There have been a handful of similar incidents here. Since we're all minorities in NM, other people have spoken up against the bigot.
That needs to be contagious, people. Yes, some of us might get hurt if they explode. However, they can't be permitted to think they're the majority. They're not.

One loud, rude woman is bad enough, but a riot would be a real problem.

(111,222 posts)especially if someone busted her for having her kids bring things she forgot to the supermarket checkout once in a while. You know she's done it, anyone with a handy kid has done it.
At least the mall and that specific store have both banned her from now on.

I've been in those situations, as have many here-- sometimes it's best just to let it pass. Sometimes it's not.

The first time the loudmouth had already walked away. The second time the airhead was engaged with another bystander, who hopefully was giving him some counterpoints to consider, but there often is no winning with such bigots.

(111,222 posts)which is why it's so troubling when bystanders refuse to, allowing the loudmouthed bigot to think s/he represents the majority.
Sorry, I won't let this stuff pass. If I think the bigot is likely tp become violent, I'll comfort the target as you did. But this shit can't go unanswered.

(24,544 posts)Good for JC Penney to try and find the shoppers to return their money; that gesture shows some caring. It's really sad and discouraging that no one spoke up to put her in her place.
