Donald Trump wants to replace email with couriers

http://www.rawstory.com/2017/01/donald-trump-wants-to-replace-email-with-couriers/

Cybersecurity concerns have led U.S. President-elect Donald Trump to proclaim “no computer is safe” and call for important messages to be delivered by courier rather than email.

Trump’s remarks, made to reporters at a New Year’s Eve party at the Mar-a-Lago club in Florida, come amid claims from U.S. intelligence agencies that Russian hackers intervened in the 2016 presidential election to help the Republican candidate win the White House. On December 29, President Barack Obama ordered 35 Russian diplomats to leave the country and imposed sanctions on Russian intelligence agencies.

“If you have something really important, write it out and have it delivered by courier, the old-fashioned way,” Trump said. “I’ll tell you what: No computer is safe. I don’t care what they say.”

The comments follow similar fears expressed by Trump last week that computers have “complicated lives very greatly” and led to an age “where nobody knows exactly what is going on.”

It will be interesting to see the MEdia tie itself in knots defending this one.

But there are people on our team who feel the same way as him. When the GOP in NC pushed a FOIA request for Roy Coopers emails as Attorney General they found he sent exactly one email a year, a mass email to his staff in April thanking them for hard work, because he prefers written or verbal communications.

just write it in Pig Latin. He'd never be able to understand that. Or, we could bring back transposition tables for encryption or use those old Enigma machines from the museums.

Yeah, that's the ticket, Donnie...

Willingly allowed letters to go astray.

However, I hope he insists he and his administration do so. It would slow down the evil he intends. Not to mention, he would lose his Twitter toy.

I guess he could then claI'm that we are back to the good old days. People would question if they really were great.

Bizarrely I've found a point of agreement with him. If something requires very sensitive data like my SS# I either

A. Take the document personally to their office if it's local

or

B. Mail it registered, the extra cost is worth the peace of mind I get.

I was lucky to catch an attempt to steal my identity while still in it's infancy. How did they get the info? Through malware which opened a back door into my then supposedly "protected" computer.

Since then I've gone at least partially Luddite when it comes to such things. For online shopping I use gift cards.

The worst that's happened was not getting an apartment because the landlord required that all communication be electronic and that I agree to use e-forms even after being told I would gladly drop the hardcopy forms by his office.

OTOH, I doubt Trump even knows how to use email. Someone showed him how to use Twitter, but imho, that's all he knows how to do.
