House republicans backs off gutting ethics office after deluge of opposition by press public & pols

Andrea Mitchell credits Trump - as if that was the only pressure republicans faced on their secret vote.

No damn way Trump's tweet, which was more about the timing of the vote, caused republicans to change their minds. If anything, his tweet gave cover to their effort, with Trump labeling the ethics office as 'unfair.'

What we're witnessing is the power of resistance. The press, political, and public outcry caused republicans to shelve their assault on ethics in Congress. Take heed and heart!

House Republicans strip the Goodlatte amendment. The OCE will continue.

Hilarious: CNN falling for the idea that Trump's tweets made GOP back down. Obviously false. #fail http://talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/cnn-manages-to-blow-the-house-ethics-story … via @TPM

Firestorm started last night, Hill GOP offices deluged with calls. Trump tweets late to game. More examples of journos praising Trumps role?

The person in the district office refused to say how he voted but the one in the DC office claims he voted no.

But I reiterated to both offices that the Rep should vote down the rules package as a whole unless this is removed from it.

They backtracked because it was bad optics- and they finally realized it. Trump didn't say it was a bad idea, just a bad idea RIGHT NOW! Yet he gets the credit for them withdrawing it. WTF?

thing, Andrea Mitchell is a tool, an extremely sorry excuse for a reporter (let alone "journalist&quot .

second, Trump's tweet was nothing but a smokescreen.

What a bunch of filthy liars they all are.
