ego is so big that he has to let you know "you are all wrong." And, it is because he was in on the hack a long time ago. If you look back at words he said, like "you just wait, there will be really bad stuff in there, you just wait..." He was telling us that HE knew.
It makes me think that although hackers may have been Russian - there is some different outfit other than the government of Russia that managed it all. Perhaps some middleman...which allows Trump to say - nope, wasn't Putin. I actually think Putin too smart to directly involve himself. I can hear it now..."No one will EVER know where it came from Donald." That is why Trump keeps saying that "you can never know where it came from."
If you think about it, Trump never studies an issue, he just repeats what he was told. So, how would he know to say "you can never know where it came from"? someone told him. Hence, he was involved.
This will be his demise, IMHO. He can not keep a secret. My guess is that he will spills some highly confidential secrets that the more normal Republicans won't be able to stomach.
