I'm talking about the 27% that voted for trump plus the 45% who couldn't be bothered to vote at all.

Feel better? I know, actions have consequences.

But let's get after these consequences with some action. This looks like a golden opportunity for Democratic activists to go into rural areas and small towns and explain that their lives are going to get measurably worse, and that Democrats have solutions for those problems. Republicans are the ones causing those problems. Your local hospital had to shut down because your state refused the Medicare expansion money, and now you have to drive 50 or 100 miles to get to a clinic? That wasn't because of Obamacare; that was because your heartless governor and your cruel legislature couldn't stand to see government work. So you must suffer.

I'm in favor of any new chairman of the DNC who recognizes this and promises action to get the Democratic message out to people who are going to be worse off in the coming months due to Republican governance.
