1. For all the hand-wringing about rural America....

I think we need to look very closely at the vote in Philadelphia, Milwaukee, Cleveland, maybe Pittsburgh, Flint, and Detroit. Swinging whatever tens of thousands of votes in those cities, rather than scraping together votes in rural areas, seems to me to have cost Hillary the EC win as much as anything. Voter suppression plays a part, misogyny obviously does too, but characters like these guys are a part of the puzzle too. It's a lot easier to suppress 1 or 2 percent of the vote in big cities than to get them from far-flung areas, because that's where the votes are to be had.

It makes me ill.
