What purpose does never ending presidential campaigning serve? My opinion, and many others, is nothing.

Let this go. We need to work on state elections, opposing Gerrymandering, and obtaining a majority in the US Senate, and House, none of which is going to be easy in 2018.

Hint: The presidency is next to useless if your party has nothing else. Right now we have zippo.

We have to build from the bottom-up, not from the top-down.

I choose to not have perpetual presidential campaigns. The U.K. And many other nations do it in a few weeks.

Only the idiot USA seemingly insists on making it a perpetual sport. Our bad. And equally bad results.

That's part of the reason why the Democratic Party has little to no power now.

The majority of the governors, the state legislatures, the US House of Representatives, the US Senate, and now the Presidency is in the hands of the lunatic GOP.

I would rather have everything but the White House. We now have nothing, nada! Our best case is the US Senate, which is close. However, good luck to us in 2018, where we're looking pretty damned grim.

But if you want to focus on the 2020 presidential election I wish you luck. I just won't be part of it for some number of years. There are more important things to accomplish.

That is what the DU perpetual presidential race contingent ignores. That's our collective loss.

a convention or seminar on the topic of rebuilding an entire political party (which is not needed to do in toto, anyway). My throwaway subject was to share a little bright spot of somebody doing a good job of bringing-it to one of our enemies. A tiny bright spot in our times of darkness.

Now. This is "just" an internet discussion board, and little old me does not have the power to make every little post about earthshaking matters.

It's not a matter of whether I disagree with what YOU want to discuss (I don't disagree, by the way), but shifting over to YOUR subject while incorporating MINE, the type of building-the-party you're talking about will still need to have a charismatic, intellectually focused leader to drive the engine, and somebody like that has to start early and somewhere in order to pay some dues, walk the walk, and be ready when the time comes. So both things need to be done at the same time, and somebody/ME throwing out a tiny venting-whatever to counteract the depression that has been dragging me since Nov. 8 and getting sucker-punched for it is what's pissing me off right now.

Now, I was hassling with a vehicle and didn't expect to engage in a seminar with my throwaway thread, and now I'm going for fixings to cook, so I'm hoping not to have to Self-Delete just to be able to escape.

As anybody who's worked within the party structure already knows. The GOP has known that for years. The idiot Democrats who see only the White House do not.

People need to decide how to fight this battle. Like many, I see it as a bottom-up battle.
