I highly recommend it! Very sad.
The loss of JFK was such a blow to this nation. Then losing RFK 5 years later, the Democratic Party has never regained it's footing.
Hard to believe that Benedict Donald, his awful family, and the right wing loons will occupy that scared home in two weeks.

(18,402 posts)Let's not forget what President Johnson accomplished in his presidency after JFK's assassination: the 1946 Civil Rights Bill and all the Great Society in 1965, including Medicare and other provisions to help the poor. After a Republican swing (doesn't that always happen?) to a disgraced Republican president, we had the Carter administration,. And after another Republican swing we had 8 years of a Clinton administration, during which the Democrats regained the House and the Senate in 2006, and saw the nation climb back to jobs and relative prosperity. And I suppose you've forgotten the past 8 years of the Obama administration, with health care, the Iran agreement, a steep climb from economic recession to see jobs rebound and wages rising for the first time in decades, much action on the environment and climate change, etc.
Yes, we have Republican swings after Democratic administrations (and from Republican to Democratic) every 4 to 8 years, depending on circumstances. We will see a Democratic swing again after 4 years (or less, praise the lord!) of this Republican disgrace.
But no, the statement that the Democrats never recuperated after JFK, RFK, and MLK is preposterous.
