Or perhaps the very opposite of sobering.
Either way when all the pageantry is done and we've come to grips with the awful reality of the situation, it's just going to be surreal and sad and the very opposite about how people usually approach a new era in politics.

(3,166 posts)I still have a hard time believing that this is actually happening. The idea that people look at him and see someone who can be President of the United States just baffles me. It's like we're all having a bad dream brought on by cheap Chinese takeout. I will never, ever understand how people were duped into voting for him. He will destroy this country.

(63,822 posts)he will show his true classless deceptive and manipulative self, you won't see him get out and walk that is for sure he fears for his safety, and he decreased the time he just wants to get from point A to Point B like he said. Or will he throw out any protocols which are done like the swearing in, if he does that will show people what a jerk he is. Of course he will say something to divide people. Or like he said on twitter "we will have a great show" talking in code for his supporters
If we see any irregularities or no class which is a given. Jan 21st will be something that he has never seen before. Masses of people all over the US will be protesting their disgust for him.
It will spark something hopefully in us that we are ready. Never do this:
Oh my TV will not be on.

(7,968 posts)it seems we are living in the modern equivalent of Nazi Germany 1933... I'm shocked that more people are not as frightened and worried as I am. I will not teach school that day but instead will be joining a protest. I don't at the moment know if I will be in DC or not. I might be if I can afford it but I don't know if it actually matters. I'm guessing all the DC stuff will be pretty much locked down by Trump's jack-booted thugs.
