For those who know the book - who else is thinking this dystopian future has moved closer to reality than not?

1. Just started re-reading it.

Recommended it to a friend, then kind of put a hold on the recommendation. Not sure she's up to it right now. Not sure I'm up to it.

Or do you mean a new re-release of the movie?

This movie is a must watch....book of course was more detailed and as movies goes it followed the book well, but both the book and this movie gave me chills when it was first published and I read it in College...

5. Oh yeah. I once read an interview with Margaret Atwood

Where she said that the idea for the book came when she had visited Afghanistan and then watched what was happening in Reagan's American. I have not attribution for that comment - it's been decades since I read it.

6. Margaret Atwood is a national treasure.

An excellent book that, like Orwell's 1984, will be seen as more history than fiction.

I approached that subject at that time and my wife said she would not move. She cited language and cold and distance from our children. If it gets bad here she might be willing to change her mind.

I even offered Ontario as a partial compromise but Ontario is just as cold as my home area. As does everyone here, we are hoping for the best.

16. For anyone who ever listens to audiobooks, a recommendation

I strongly recommend the reading of the unabridged novel by Claire Danes. I don't know whether there was an earlier version, but this one was published in 2014.
