Are You an LLBean Customer? You Might Not Be After Seeing This

(good news is you can return everything you ever bought from them)

A pro-Trump political group founded by L.L. Bean heiress Linda Bean wants to switch its registration in order to raise unlimited funds, after federal regulators warned Bean that she had made excessive contributions to the group.

Bean's group, Making Maine Great Again, was limited to accepting individual contributions of $5,000 in a single year— and Bean contributed $60,000, according to a Wednesday letter from the Federal Election Commission obtained by the Associated Press.

The group spent $66,862 supporting Republican Donald Trump's presidential campaign in Maine, where the president-elect won one out of the state's four electoral votes.

. . .

The group on Friday took steps recommended by the FEC to change its registration to a super PAC that can raise unlimited funds.

I have friends who have known a number of the Beans. She is considered a nut by most of the Bean family. She is not indicative of them at all.

In fact, she opened her own restaurants because she was not allowed to be part of the company. Her board seat is only because she is an heir.

The company, LL Bean, is in a very blue area and has always been an award winning employer and strong corporate citizen.

Keep your respect for the company. They earned it fair and square. But, yes, boycott Linda Bean's lobster restaurants. She is as bad as LePage.

The company has pretty-much disowned Linda Bean.

We were disappointed to learn that Grab Your Wallet is advocating a boycott against L.L.Bean solely because Linda Bean, who is only one of 50+ family members involved with the business, personally supported Donald Trump for President.

L.L.Bean has been a family-owned business since it began back in 1912. L.L.Bean is a values driven company that has long been inspiring people to live life outdoors. For the last 105 years, L.L.Bean has been singularly focused on offering high-q...

about 30 other businesses and states that DUers have designated as boycott worthy over the years.

Entire states! WTF.

I used to have a complete list, but it got lost.

Not that I ever followed the list.

Just seems a little stupid, IMO, to boycott someplace for any reason other than bad product or bad service.

For any other reason? No.

If people feel better about boycotting a business (or a whole state) then that's their right.

I personally don't think that trying to hurt a business so that its employees end up suffering the consequences is a cool thing to do.

Chick-Filet, and LL Bean. AND they're all in different sales lines. There are still lots of retailers to serve us. The only one that bugs me is Home Depot. t's less than 5 minutes from our house! It's hard to drive 30 minutes when you know you could get the item you need at a store so much closer.

But what a pain in the ass to have to work so hard to avoid hate mongers!! Who would have thought?

16. Lands End Caves To Anti-Abortion Pressure, Pulls Gloria Steinem Interview
Mon Jan 9, 2017, 02:53 AM
Jan 2017

Remember when they did this a while back? I said I wouldn't buy anything from them ever again after this. So this new news just confirms it.

Clothing retailer Lands’ End has issued a formal apology for featuring an interview with feminist icon Gloria Steinem in its spring catalog after backlash from the anti-abortion movement.

The company also discontinued a campaign that enabled customers to donate to the Fund for Women’s Equality, of which Steinem is a board member, Jezebel reports. As part of the campaign, consumers could order items embroidered with the the logo of the ERA Coalition, a group dedicated to passing an Equal Rights Amendment to the Constitution that would prohibit discrimination based on sex. Lands’ End planned to donate $3 to the fund for every logo ordered.

But this didn’t sit well with anti-abortion activists, who became enraged that the company would feature a woman who spent much of her life fighting for reproductive rights. (The interview itself did not feature any discussion of abortion.)

L.L. Bean, noted for its signature waterproof rubber-bottom boots, sought to distance itself from the controversy, noting that Linda Bean is one of many family members who share ownership and that Bean family members, employees and customers “represent the full spectrum of political and social views.”

“The L.L. Bean company does not endorse political candidates, nor do we take positions on political matters or make political contributions,” a spokeswoman said.

For another, the company claims it "does not endorse political candidates" when one of it's very wealthy namesakes and majority owners sent $60,000 to one of the worst political candidates in the history of the US - in violation of campaign finance law and now wants to retroactively change her/her group's status? Uhhhh-huh.

Well. I don't buy that. Literally.
