Trump doesn't know that you can't buy respect.

He won by setting off the underbelly of this country. The deplorable think he is wonderful. The racists, the homophobes, the misogynistic, the uneducated, the violent.

And now he doesn't understand why the majority of good, decent Americans want no part of him.

You made your bed, buddy. Now you get to spend your life in it.

Most Americans didn't even vote for the guy and that's something even he'll agree to.

3. No, the difference is that up until now, people HAD TO BE nice to him.

They want to do business with him, they better be nice to him.

But now Trump has a job where HE HAS TO do business with people who are under no obligation whatsoever to be nice to him.
Those ordinary people who mock and insult him? He has to govern the country for their best.
All those selfish and extremist factions of the Republicans? He has to get them under control.
The Democrats who have vowed to block him at every turn? He has to find a way to work with or around them.

The difference is that Trump cannot simply walk away from problems this time.
The difference is that Trump cannot simple fire people to make problems go away.

His method of keeping people in line is revenge. Hard to do that to 200 million people who hate his guts.

6. I think tRump does know that you can't buy respect.

He's been trying and failing to do so most of his life. Those who know him best, the fine people of Manhattan, overwhelmingly rejected him. It is his hope that he can bully his way to respect with his ill-gained position of power. It remains to be seen whether he will succeed in this attempt. It is the duty of the American public to see that he fails.

he will have to be the President for all the people not just deplorables. He doesn't seem to get if it effects us it effects all in someway. Trump doesn't get that he is creating more enemies than he and his minions can handle.

Trump also thinks his supporters are Deplorables, American hoi polloi. He would never attend any of their social functions voluntarily.

But OTOH, Trump CRAVES the acceptance of the established Old Rich. Descendants of The Edith Wharton crowd. He's been spurned by the old Palm Beach crowd. He was told not to apply for permanent membership by the Maidstone Club in East Hampton. You'll never see him even invited to play golf at The Tuxedo Club.

My thesis is Trump's adult life has been dedicated to trying to chisel his way into exclusive clubs, screw their women, and get on boards of directors of their corporation; and being unsuccessful in his endeavors, he has pledged revenge on everyone but his own family. Like a modern Greek Tragedy.
