Relevant difference between "free to" and "appropriate for." It can be confusing. Words. Hard.

The other team, as well as yours will have no issue shooting you. Armbands are not all bad.

I'm not going to advertise that I'm in the Resistance but feel free if you'd like.

We need to assume a Resistance mindset.

Flying it right now would seem like giving a nod, or tacit approval. Half mast would get my house vandalized, and letting the pole stand with a rope clanging against it in the wind would just be too sad. So, I pulled it out of the ground. It's aluminum, so it should be fine laying next to the garage until I feel differently.

Events are appropriate. I'm having one at my home with a patriotic theme--everyone needs to bring a poem or song or art or other presentation that tells us the good things about America. I'll be using the event to recruit friends interested in protest activities. This is a great occasion to stir up activist patriotic interest.

I wonder if Ms. Streep has anything making the rounds now.
An enterprising theatre owner could have a M.Streep marathon & make a lot of people happy.

It's kinda a "sore loser" kinda thing to do. There will be plenty of opportunities to express your opposition to the new administration.

Seriously though, the armband might be preaching to the choir. People who get it likely agree with you already, while Trumpeteer rubes probably won't understand the reference.
