I'm sitting here, with my daughter, taking our loose change and filling coin rolls for exchange at the bank.

1. You should do what I do. Just wait until you have so much change it's actually getting to be

a nuisance. Take it all to the bank and run it through one of those change hoppers. You just deposit the several hundred bucks in your account with all that other money you're sitting on. Or have one of your "people" do that for you and go play golf instead.

Okay so I don't actually do that. I'm lucky if it builds up to even $50. I do take it to my credit union and use the hopper. Usually I need that in my account to catch up on bills.

2. My bank offered free counters, but those automated machines, charge and short by 5-20%.

The error rate is so prevalent in those counters that my bank pulled the free service.

It takes a really expensive coin counter to properly count a bulk of coins properly.


You probably won't find those in the supermarket.
