Trump did this to himself.

He has known that info was out there. And he still went out of his way, over and over, to talk up Putin. And people began to wonder why because it didn't make sense.

A politician would have known this would be a shit storm and would have played all the Russia ties down.

But, no. Mr huge ego thought he could just go on lying his way out of it.

But now what happens?. Every day it's something new and exciting. And so nerve-wracking.

NYT still doesn't have anything out there on this. Waiting to see what they come out with. I am sure they have been on this for some time.

Its working too. Go look on republican forums. They openly agree about how great putin is and how much obama sucks. I slowly watched them turn from you know maybe putin isnt so bad, to now hes a great guy. Its absolutely insane but its still out there. The russians run deep into the republican party. This will not be easy to stamp out.

bad, but that does not mean trump should not be impeached.

Trump is NOT qualified to be the President. An impeachment would hopefully delay the damage that the republicans plan to do, and possibly improve are chances in 2018 to reverse the complete destruction of America by the republicans.

easier for him to consolidate power, and sweep this under the rug.

This being brought into the picture now, and if it is verified, they will not be able to squash an investigation of it.

Unfortunately, I still think the odds are against that happening, and you are correct, a lot will depend on how the media reports this, but even more important, if republicans put country before power, and that is a wild card

as far as the golden shower goes. Far right sites are claiming that the golden shower story is fake news. Drudge and others now are saying that the golden shower story was bogus, that some clown just gave the story to the CIA and they included it in Trump's intelligence briefing.
When I told them the info was given to the FBI and not the CIA it made no difference to them. Unless a video emerges or pics Trump true believers will not be swayed.

it is all of those who voted b/c of "Supreme Court" or b/c "What was the choice" (eg bought the years long smear campaign against Hillary). I believe there are many more of those than true believers.

The problem for Trump's team (not Trump as he has lived a life getting away with things - and he can't fathom not being able to pull the wool over on folks and it not working) - is that since the Grab em by the Pussy tape a lot of things came out that are just enough to plant seeds of doubt.

In the brief period of women coming forward there was at least one story (on the record) of a woman in the porn industry who claimed he offered big bucks for her to sleep with him. (Prostitution?). Not implausable that he would engage hookers. http://nytlive.nytimes.com/womenintheworld/2016/10/24/adult-film-actress-jessica-drake-accuses-donald-trump-of-inappropriate-touching/

There was also the story of some pretty gross (perhaps depraved) behavior with the Miss USA and Teen USA pageants with his insisting it was his right to enter private areas while women were undressed.

There are the pictures of his wife posing in all sorts of unseemly manners. Yes, Trump is into some degree of kink and that is all very public.

The story doesn't have to end up being real. Enough people have the reflexive "no way!" response... but then again... "it might be possible..."

It isn't going to sink his presidency (yet), but it is going to deeply damage his already fragile credibility. And his Pro Russia stands will be much more cautiously embarrassed by some GOPers on the Hill. Because this kind of taint if blindly followed, might not wash off so well.

The level of discrediting that has just entered the public psyche is damaging. It moves the bar much closer to when and how he fully loses credibility in such a way that the GOP starts acting against him. There will be *no* real moves towards anything like impeachment until a substantial movement grows on the Hill among the enough of the GOP members of Congress.

One of the things that the self proclaimed pervert/assaulter did was to look at a 10 year old girl and say that he will be dating her in 10 years. Who does that? Who looks at a 10 year old girl and has sexual thoughts about her, who? A pervert.

The golden shower stuff is getting all of the headlines but the coordination between the Trump campaign and Russia is far more important. When will Trey Gowdy form a committee to investigate that Alfa bank/Trump server?

serious hearings never really happened. They won't here.

But starting with the revelations of Abu Graib, there was a slow - but permanent erosion of support. It took time for the public narrative/conventional wisdom to grasp that harsh reaity, but it became so entrenched - that even in this story THAT reality is used by Trump to try to erode support for the intell community.

I think that is starting to happen here. Right now all the salacious is getting the attention. But just beneath that the WHY didn't stories like this get released (if they are true or not) that lead to WHY Trump has taken pro Putin stands over US Intel and US interests. Those questions/beliefs will be what ends up as the long-term public conventional wisdom/understanding.

GOP hold hearings? Gowdy? LOL. Until, and only if, they feel threatened. The way things are starting to slide down hill, so very fast, even before inauguration, that point may arrive sooner than expected (and even a couple of weeks ago, I didn't expect it possible that the point would come during this term.)

He traded in fake news. Hell, the guy that runs Breitbart, which is ALL fake news, is in his administration. So, yeah, Donald Trump does not get to complain about fake news now that it hurts him.

In any case, he lies about everything. He lies about things that are easily verifiable (the inauguration dress story). Why should anyone believe anything he says at this point?

Have we heard from Dan yet? He is going to be really careful until there is more verification.

I mean, it's gross and all and seems really, really petty if the motivation was because Obama slept there once.

But the collusion with Russia is more concerning.

I do also agree it needs more verification. Someone else mentioned here that they thought it might be an attempt to discredit the media in general by planting a false story. Maybe that's true, when it comes to the golden shower story, but I do think there is evidence for Trump's entirely too cozy relationship with Russia.
