(16,999 posts)Trump's one and only strategy, which is good. It's an easy strategy to counteract especially when his fall back position is a temper tantrum that would make a two year old proud. People need to stop treating him like an adult. The adult-to-adult interaction rules will never work with him because he is not an adult. People with personality disorders never are. It is part of the disorder. Simply put, they get stuck at an earlier stage of development. Trump's behavior is typical of most teenagers: narcissistic, moody, all or nothing thinking, given to lying to avoid punishment, over concern with peer group, difficulty with self-regulation and an amazing capacity to be completely oblivious to the outcome of his actions. If you want to know what he will do, ask your teenage kid what he would do if he was in the same situation. In the mean time, we need to deal with Trump the same way you deal with a teenager, calmly, rationally and with the confidence that we, the adults, really are in charge.
