A contrast of a speech and a great man, with a "news conference" and a failure

My wife and I let a day go by - we sat on the sofa together just a short while ago, found our president's farewell address on the web and watched it. As it ended, we found ourselves both in tears. President Obama covered a lot of ground in the speech - it is well worth going back a few more times - there were some veiled cautions for our future. He was inspiring, rousing - but sober and realistic. It was masterful, as most of his speeches are. The ending part - when he touched on his family, and the Bidens - showed the true person, the human being, loving, empathetic, humble, thankful, sensitive - and tired, and I would suspect, a bit burned out from the last eight years. As the speech ended, we both noted that we are not likely to see another like him in our remaining time - or another family - such class.

Today, in the car (thankfully before watching the address - I needed a dose of hope by the time we sat down to watch the president tonight), I listened to just 10-15 minutes of the pee-brained idiot who unless a miracle occurs will follow President Obama. I posted a few times here on my impressions today so won't repeat that. But - it was neither a conference, or had any news. It was a continuation of his campaign - it was attention seeking by a narcissist who had to stack the deck with people to clap for him as he abused audience members - the press. He is so unfit, so unworthy for the office that I struggle each day to find words to describe how desolate it makes me feel.

We are lucky with what we had for eight years. We are actually luckier than we realize - and over time, we will all come to realize it more and more.

What is to follow is so unworthy. He who I can't name - his billions (if he has them), his successes (so called) - none if it is worth even a microsecond of the talent, class and worthiness of Barack and Michelle Obama and their daughters.

Last night's speech was uplifting. Today's "press conference" brought me thudding back to earth.

trunk of a LADA!!!!

Lada is a brand of cars manufactured by the Russian car manufacturer AvtoVAZ based in Tolyatti, Samara Oblast. "Lada" was originally the export brand for models sold under the "Zhiguli" name in the domestic Soviet market after June 1970.

Being at Trader Joe (my destination) cheered me up - I've got lots of liberal pals that work there...we had lots of chats during my shopping spree!

Between his claque, the lawyer, his word-salad answers and insults to the press, it doesn't bode well for transparency. No surprise, really.
