I am done with mourning, time to make a real difference again!
Because I dont want to look at my kids eye to eye and tell them: I knew about Climate Change and did nothing
Because no action will have more impact than political resolve
Because I cant think of a better way to spend my savings for the future of my children, I gave 25% of our college fund to the Clinton Super PACS and spent 2 months on the road raising assets for those PACS.
Today Im energized again and focusing my efforts to France and to Macron because his top priorities are
1) The fight against global climate change
2) Rebuilding the French German relationship and a stronger Europe. Europe imposing a carbon tax will have a completely different outcome than if it is France alone
Climate change is not a US centric problem. Every country that steps up will increase odds that we give our children a chance.
Because a stronger Europe will p** off both Trump and Putin
Because a stronger Europe will help safeguard Americas' democratic interests
Because a stronger focus on climate change will p** off both Trump and Putin
Because Macron is a realist, understands economic constraints and world dynamics. Because he understands that with globalization and automatization all jobs cant be protected and the focus has to shift from protecting those jobs to protecting people (healthcare, training) and encourage and reward innovation.
Because the alternative is a far right candidate or a Tatcher type conservative candidate (who is pro life, against gay marriage, doesnt believe climate change is a priority and is uninterested in Europe)
Because Macron has a real chance of winning
Because Macrons biggest problem is a lack of funds (since he started with no party)
Because he only needs 6mio$ to be competitive
Because as incredible as it seems France allows funding from non French people, even those that have never lived in France (limited to 7500 euros per person)
I have energy again

Buy only Energy Star rated appliances. Make sure the old, inefficient ones will be junked. Yes, I know poor folks rely on refurbished appliances, I did when I bought this house. You want really inefficient stuff from the 70s out of the system, though, it will kill poor folks on their electric bill. Mine did.
If you want a car in a big city, consider electric. Consider a hybrid for the suburbs/exurbs. If you live where distances are really long like I do and can't afford a hybrid, look at 4 cylinder cars. They have gotten a hell of a lot better since the 60s. Mine can go up La Bajada (engine slayer hill) in fifth gear.
Realize the difference between economy and false economy. Yes, those trendy shoes in the cheap stores are attractive, but the well made shoes that cost four times as much will last eight times as long. Also look at how much clothing you really need. If you've got a huge walk in closet that is stuffed, you're probably doing it wrong, buying cheaply made trends and then storing them in perpetuity when they sag and bag after a few washings or just go out of style at light speed.
Learn how to cook. Learn how to cut up your own chicken. Even if you can't cook your own food from a backyard garden, realize that if you start with fresh stuff you're saving all the energy that went into processing and transportation and you're also not getting salt overload.
Go paperless where you can do it, getting bills in your email inbox and paying online.
Realize this is just a partial list and look for ways to save energy. A lot of people have been doing these things without thinking about them for a long time. Many of us have been doing a lot to decrease our energy use and carbon footprint already. We're just waiting for people to stop voting for Republican assholes so the government can follow us.

Because the stability of our incredible engine, combining freedom and free markets has always nonetheless relied on a social pact and this social pact is threatened by the disenfranchisement of the middle class due to globalization
Because the temptation of protectionism and populists
There needs to be another way
