I was pretty doggone tickled when I stumbled upon this. Note the NBC News and MSNBC contact info.

I just made use of these myself! Thursday I wrote to MSNBC President Phil Griffin with my objection to Greta Van Susteren's show. Confessed that I did try. Watched two and a half days' worth of her new show, and gave up halfway through Wednesday's hour. I had seen enough by then. More than enough. I just couldn't stand anymore. And in this new political climate, I decided that not to speak up is simply not an option at all, any longer. I also cc'd Rachel Maddow on it.

I tried, Rachel. And I'm sorry. You're wrong in all those Greta promos of yours, that they're currently jamming down our throats. I don't like it. It doesn't work. She doesn't work. She doesn't belong on MSNBC. I'm outta there. If I'm home at that hour, the TV will be tuned to something else. And I won't come back til somebody else has that time slot.

And she has what's sometimes referred to in voice-over circles as "mush-mouth." Doesn't speak clearly, runs her words together (Chris Matthews is also an offender) to where you wind up with half-words mushed together like faux "contractions". The tone and timbre of it is grating as can be. No softness to it whatsoever. It's really a rough one on the ears, I must say.

I'm no certified expert, but I did spend a quarter century on the air full-time, another several years part-time after I switched to full-time mothering, I took a long series of professional voice-over workshops while I was still working, and also sang in multiple church choirs. So that makes me feel comfortable weighing in as a voice critic. On top of that, a very close friend of mine is a professional voice-over specialist/actor/coach. Criminy! Man, do I hear a boatload of complaints about less-than-lovely voices growling and kvetching from that direction!

In D'Souza's world, there 'used' to be racism, and then some hazy, distant, entirely whitewashed and inoffensive civil rights figures mentioned that they had a dream and the reasonable white people said, "Oh yes, of course."

What D'Souza's blinkered and pinched ideology prevents him from seeing is that John Lewis did important civil rights work in the 1960's, and he has been doing important civil rights work ever since. Because the struggle against racism, poverty, and injustice is ongoing and very much unfinished.

John Lewis is a hero, and D'Souza is a worthless shitstain.
