Peter Thiel considering bid for California governor

"SNIP............

Peter Thiel, the Silicon Valley billionaire and outspoken Donald Trump supporter, is considering a 2018 bid for California governor, according to three Republicans familiar with his thinking.

Thiel, who co-founded PayPal and was an early investor in Facebook, has been discussing a prospective bid with a small circle of advisers, including Rob Morrow, who has emerged as his political consigliere.

Morrow has worked at Clarium Capital, the San Francisco-based investment management firm and hedge fund that Thiel started.

Those who have been in touch with the 49-year-old entrepreneur are skeptical that he’ll enter the race. He is a deeply private figure, and California is unfriendly territory for a Republican – particularly a pro-Trump one. The president-elect won just over 30 percent of the vote there.

...............SNIP"

Maybe it is to give Gavin Newsom some bruises nationally to hurt him in the Presidential race in 2020. I could see all the 'great' GOP political minds participating. See more in the threads below.

Either one of them will strip the bark off him and make Donald Drumpf his running mate.

Gavin Newsom. They are afraid of Gavin because he is dyslexic and reads crowds brilliantly and communicates with crowds like dyslexics do: both Bushes, Reagan, Kennedy, Paul Wellstone, Trump, Eleanor Roosevelt (she was her husbands eyes and ears), Churchill and Woodrow Wilson are/were all dyslexic.

They will attack him in California. I bet all the GOP 'great' political minds will be involved. That way they can wound Newsom or get him to say things that would hurt in him the Presidential race in 2020, as he runs for Governor of California. Of course he would win the governorship and Thiel would lose. But could it be used by the GOP to clip Newsom's wings nationally.

But Thiel definitely skews towards the libertarian side of the GOP- supports things like pot legalization, which is wildly popular on the West Coast.

Says something about the failure of authoritarians to get much traction on that side of the country.

I might be wrong, but I think he is going to get his butt kicked if he tries to run.
