I think we should read history books and local, national and international print news and mags

Journalism is just a branch of show biz now. The end of the fairness doctrine was the catalyst.

It is rampant on websites, on blogs, on message boards, in social media.

The problem is that "real journalism" doesn't have a chance against the non-stop stream of misinformation that blasts out of TVs and radio networks 24/7 - and we sadly live in a world where too many people want their "news" sources to resemble fast food take-out procedure: give it to me fast, give it to me cheap, and don't slow me down with things like "nutritional value" or "facts".

The MSM is full of well-coiffed, well-dressed bobbleheads who never were journalists - so expecting them to suddenly become responsible news reporters is something far above their pay grade, not to mention far beyond their capabilities.

When you put those who were never doctors in charge of the hospital, you can't expect them to become surgeons just because the ER is suddenly full of people requiring operations.

Partly because journalists let it happen
(and a willing misguided audience helped too).
I hope journalists take this opportunity to stand up
up for their profession and do serious battle.
They've been here before and fake news
a.k.a. propaganda can be defeated.
It's just not easy.
