Example for fake news on Facebook: Pregnant woman raped and beaten up by immigrants.

http://www.spiegel.de/netzwelt/web/angebliche-vergewaltigung-in-erfurt-polizei-geht-von-facebook-luege-aus-a-1129495.html
(article in german)

A 18yo German wrote a post on Facebook that his pregnant girlfriend was almost raped in the street by 3 men. A passersby saved her, but the two got beaten up badly and she's now in hospital. He added that he doesn't mention which race these guys were, because he doesn't want to spread racism.

Except...

Except that no hospital in the area had a beaten-up pregnant woman as a patient.
Except that no such crime was reported to police.
Except that, when questioned by police, the 18yo insisted that this woman totally exists but she's gone for a trip and he doesn't want to tell where she has travelled.
Except that the posts on her Facebook-profile were all written on December 16th 2016.
Except that none of his friends is linked to the Facebook-profile of his "girlfriend".
Except that his Facebook-profile connects him to the Neonazi-scene and he "didn't want to mention the race of the attackers to avoid racism".

The police has said, they will charge him with "public nuisance" if it turns out to be a fake.

Fake news spreads like wildfire and morons lap it up and pass it on because it plays to their preconceived biases. The same goes for fake memes
