Surprisingly, Trump inauguration shapes up to be a relatively low-key affair

By John Wagner and Karen Tumulty January 16 at 5:48 PM

President Obama’s first inaugural festivities stretched over five days. Donald Trump is spending barely three on his.

Bill Clinton hit 14 official balls on the day he was sworn in. Trump plans appearances at three.

And while other presidents have staged parades that lasted more than four hours, Trump’s trip down Pennsylvania Avenue is expected to clock in at 90 minutes — making it among the shortest on record.

In a word, the 45th president’s inaugural activities will be “workmanlike,” said Boris Epshteyn, communications director for the Presidential Inaugural Committee, a pop-up staff of about 350 people scrambling to put together the proceedings from the second floor of a nondescript government building just south of the Mall.

I think all of us on DU knew that was the case, but it's nice to hear it confirmed from someone in the industry.

it was going to be short because he was so jazzed to get started working - now that he's announced he's taking half of Friday and the entire weekend off, I wonder what lie they're going to tell.

Trumps folks can spin this as "he's focusing on work" as much as they please but the fact is no one wants to be there, they're begging folks to come, and Trump has no intentions of actually doing work.

being that he's such a low-key, self-effacing kind of guy. Those big over-the-top inaugurations Democrats have would simply have embarrassed Mr. Trump. Plus, he's eager to throw himself into his work of Making America Great Again, so he doesn't want to waste time over pointless glitz and glamor.

As usual, the lying media with their fake news and cyber have twisted this all around.

This was the plan all along, to embarrass those show-off Democrats. They had Beyonce, for god's sake, and look how much good it did them. Trump is a thoughtful man who understands that flaunting your victories only invites
