https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/reliable-source/wp/2017/01/17/hair-stylists-snub-to-marla-maples-no-free-services-in-exchange-for-inauguration-day-exposure/Freelance stylist Tricia Kelly says she was contacted by a longtime client with ties to the Trumps about a job coifing Marla Maples and the younger Trump daughter for the big event. Kelly expressed her interest and she explained her rates a $150 fee to travel in addition to the cost of her services but Maples, through her assistant, balked. I was told they had a $300 budget for both of them for hair and makeup, Kelly says.
After some back and forth, Kelly agreed to be paid $200 total and a makeup artist $150 to get the women camera-ready. Thats when Mapless assistant came up with another proposal: Would Kelly and the makeup artist be willing to provide their services for free? In exchange, they would get exposure, and Maples would mention them on her social-media feeds, the assistant told her.
Kelly declined. I was stunned, she said. I told them .?.?. I work for a fee, not for free.
-snip-
But after The Washington Post contacted the PR representative, Kelly received ominous messages from her client, who had first put her in touch with Mapless camp. You are messing with the president of the United States, the Maples contact wrote her, adding that Maples was worried about her financial situation with Tiffany out of college, ending child-support payments from the president-elect. She is used to a certain lifestyle and you dont understand that.

(34,131 posts)That he's cutting off money to his daughter now that she has graduated college shows how little he cares for family that he cannot use to feed his ego.

(11,119 posts)To provide FREE services... Tiffany's out of school, no child support, Tiffany has expectations! That sounds like a personal problem, lady!

(101,264 posts)If refusing to work for free for her counts as "messing with the president of the United States", then "the president of the United States" can damn well pay up, with that money he claims to have lots of.

(90,538 posts)...because his/her staff still needed their paychecks, and all down the line people had worked to make that event: food, flowers, tablecloths, you name it.
Horrible horrible con-artists, the lot of them.

(3,208 posts)This is classic rich people style. Speaking as someone who worked in a grooming salon in a rich St. Louis county neighborhood and worked as a professional house cleaner in and around rich neighborhoods.
They always want the best but to pay the least. They want you to feel like just busting your ass for them should be payment enough.
