Many Voter Won't Vote Dem Because Believe Policies Too Socialistic/Communistic.

People have been so brainwashed by the right they see the Democrats as too communistic. Even the churches are against Democratic policies. They hate unions, dislike pro labor legislation, work environment protections, minimum wages, the safety net, what they call as free health care, SNAP, Unemployment Insurance, Workman's comp et al.

Middle America has been so flooded with anti socialist and phony anti communist rhetoric that people look at anything government does as a threat to their freedom.

Anything Democratic threatens their guns and their bible. They are told that the atheistic Democratic party will take away their freedom.

create more intensely felt emotions, rather than appealing to "equal justice and freedoms" and abstract ideas of "goodness" that apparently don't move even those who say they follow religious principles.

Maybe we need to start couching our positions in terms of fear of losing things, which is what the R's do -- losing guns, losing tax money for welfare "giveaways" etc.

We have a relative who was unemployed for more than a year, sat on the couch watching Fox all day, collected unemployment as this relative NEEDED IT, and yet has voted republican in every single election as the evil welfare people were collecting unemployment, etc and not working because they were evil and lazy.

These people are so scarily ignorant that one doesn't know what to say -- except that it will be amusing to see (in a very sad way) how they will be smashed by Paul Ryan and his cronies as they destroy health care and social security and everything else they can get their hands on...

5. They vote republican because they are filled with hate.

Hatred of gays, hatred of Muslims, hatred of women, hatred of minorities, hatred of anyone who is different from them in any way, but most of all they have a deep seated hatred of themselves, because deep down they know that it is in fact them who personify all the worst qualities that they try to pin on others, and it eats them up on the inside until all that's left is a bitter, angry, hate filled husk.

7. Messaging and policy problem on our part.

People may be afraid of "socialisim" but they may not be afraid of things like cheap medicine, low cost good healthcare, paid vacation and sick leave, maternity leave.

We need to run more on issues people agree with us on and show we are for them.

We can't do like we have done before where we let some dems to join with the GOP to kill things and then claim we tried.

They will love it, and even the Republicans will be begging to get called socialists.
