My trump voting sister said to me, as I was educating her about her vote

That she forgot pre existing conditions and kids on their parents insurance until they are 27 was part of Obamacare.

I said you what??

She said yeah. We gotta hope for the best with him and that we don't lose that. I said we gotta hope?? That is your fucking answer. She got all upset and told me that the vote was hard for her and she spent the most time she has ever spent on researching trump.

Take it from me, these voters are ignorant yet think they are the smartest.

She also told me that she felt I was brainwashed by a liberal media. At that very instant I understood it was her who was brainwashed by conservative hillary hate.

in their 20s (at the time of Air America), does not fit the demographic of an AM radio listener, AT ALL... i remember how many ads there were for citrical, analgesic arthritis cremes, gold, and the sleep number bed, i was thinking DAMN, just how old is the average AM radio listener?!

Other than old people , the only other place i heard AM radio was on shop floors, in mechanic shops, ect. And invariably it was either pillbaugh or one of his clones.

Everyone else listened to music or sports...

But yeah, i fondly remember IEAmerica Radio (way better than air america, it had peter werbe and malloy)..

Among the hosts i liked ove thebyears were;

Peter Werbe
Mike Malloy
Nancy Skinner
Randi
Stephanie Miller
Rachel when she was a noob! (On Unfilteres on AA, then later her own show)
Bobby Kennedy Jr and Mike Papantonio (bobby is really good when he leaves the fuckin vaccine topic alone! Grrrrr)
Ed Shultz

The righties always claimed we didn't do good at talknradio because we had no good hosts. The lefties claimed it was because we couldn't find stations, or got shitndown when we did (a few did get replaced with aporta or spanish language radio).

The truth is, liberals in general just don't fit the AM radio listening demographic. DUers are an anomaly, but there's not enough of us to carry a single radio station.

I wonder how many DUers realize how small a group we are. Political junkies like as are not what you'd call a mainstream group. That's why i laugh when people have their little theories how russia singled out DU to hack during the election...

I love DU, been here since the joint began, but damn people, it's a teensy, tiny sliver of the web!

I don't mean to imply that DU was necessarily on the radar for the Russian Intelligence community, but I can absolutely believe some hacker or Freeper type would have a personal vendetta and say, hey! Let's take them out while we're at it.

I think a.m. radio also appeals to people who drive around a lot (big rigs, obviously, but also who live in towns where driving is the norm, not riding the bus), as well as people who stay home. I also think it's the time of day - we used to listen to some local talk show on a.m. radio at night (KIRO, Seattle), but that station went to sports and they moved what was left of their talk over to FM. The Air America station went to sports. Seattle has two major league teams (well, three if you count the Sounders) and AFAIK, all these station get mediocre to low ratings.

On the other side are many right wing nuts (all GOP) that dont believe any of the bad stuff about Trump and he is their God against the will of the evil liberal population. All media that shows bad things about trump are bad liberal media until it says something good then temporarily its good. Its true that most GOP voters are just not very smart but have some serious disdain for Liberals.

They believe Liberals are evil. We think they are stupid. They will fight at all costs including some that considered rebellion and bearing arms, while liberals just want to fight fairly.

That same liberal media that showed every single speech he gave from airplane hangers uninterrupted with no critical commentary, that liberal media?

You can hope for the best.

I mean, how ADD must she be to have "forgotten" about such things?

I keep on wishing that only those who voted for him would lose their coverage, but alas, it won't work that way.

And I agree with the other comments on her ability to research anything.

Oh, and the kids can only stay on their parents' health plan to age 26, if that helps.

researched Trump and didn't know he was going to repeal oObamacare???? This is like saying you didn't know he was going to build a wall . He talked about Obamacare all the time and how it's gone . The first wave of Obamacare installed was the pre existing and the age increase I believe and quite publicized . I swear these people coming up from under a rock hit thier head hard on the way out.
Yeah they all know some covert things we don't see or know and we are brainwashed to ignore it ok

Yeah, was thinking today.. dump is the first foxscrews pospotus.

There's facts and there's bullshit... if she wasn't aware of the facts about Pre-existing Conditions being accepted with Ocare and the kids being on until 27 then it is she who is brainwashed.

She was ok with a sleazy sexual predatory "celebrity" being our pospotus.. it's she who is brainwashed.

And, there's millions of them.

or she looked for hillary hate and found reasons to vote the way she did.

She aint to bright politically.

To be honest, it makes it real hard to accept her knowing what she voted for. But I love her. That don't make it easy or her right.

She's just gonna have to deal, knowing how I feel about her vote.

My parents both voted for Drumpf because "he's going to bring back manufacturing." And they blame Obamacare for my Dad's insurance premiums going up. And they watch a lot of Fox News. Both will be on Social Security and Medicare in a few years. We'll see how all that works out....

I love them of course, but it's been hard to accept. They weren't bigots and did not raise us to be.

are complete opposites. She's a raging tea bagger bigot. I haven's spoken to her in 4 yrs except once last summer when we ended up at the same place and the same time. After her first reaction "What are you doing here" her second question was "What do you think of Obama". You can imagine how I took that. I had the flu and ready to knock her block off.

I forget a lot of things, especially when I walk into another room, but the big things I can remember.
I think people have already "forgot" what happened the last time we had a (not very good) business man who was born into a rich family as president.

Kinda funny she still has hope!

I can't imagine having a tRump voting sister!

all out of proportion to any mistakes she may have made. i think it's the result of literally decades of slime being poured on her. decades of it.

there's no question of me discussing politics with my trump voting relatives. we love each other and want to keep it that way.

Some of my goddamned family voted for the jackass. Sister is an ignoramous just like yours and my brother is misogynist MRA. He wasn't ABOUT to vote for any woman and openly stated that was why he voted Trump. He's registered 'unaffiliated' and heretofore has always voted Dem. NOW, he's a Republican.

Sister is a rape apologist. She said Trump was just "bragging" like "all men do" when he was talking about grabbing women's genitals. And she pitied "poor" Billy Bush getting fired over that.

Poor Billy Bush. I don't feel sorry for goddamned Billy Bush.

I DO feel sorry for all the women who are, have been and will be disrespected by this sexual predator who is so entitled that he thinks he has a right to grab them anywhere, anytime and for any reason he chooses because he's rich and a "star" (at least in his own mind).

Ignorance and hate.

Some of them seem to think "everything's just an opinion" too.

Bullshit, what she and sixty million people did was say they were Ok with racists and the rest as long as they get a tax cut.

Not picking on your sister, you know what I mean.

and some voted against trade deals, gay rights, green energy, and other things that make America great but they would like to get rid of.

When a sewer pipe burst back in my hometown where I grew up, they blamed it on Obama and low flow toilets. They feel that sewage will be managed better with Trump as president and we can have powerful toilets again.

This is an area where idiots waste expensive diesel fuel on "rolling coal" to pollute the air to spite Obama.

A woman who is on SSI and lives in subsidized housing told me that Trump was going to provide health insurance for everyone.
She said Trump is a good businessman. I told her that the voters in our city refused to return our mayor to office because he had not paid his sub-contractors and I wish more Americans had rejected Trump on those grounds alone.
But a really big issue is Russia. I told her that the reason Trump bad mouths China is that soon China (and India) will be the only large countries that Putin does not control. Putin has Trump in his pocket; he has gotten Britain out of the EU and is continuing to weaken the EU. Trump will help Putin destroy NATO.
Poor old FDR, Truman, and Ike must be wondering what all those soldiers in World War II died for.
I also told my friend that if Trump had been president instead of FDR, Trump would have "made a deal" with Hitler and we'd all be speaking German now. And instead of enjoying unparalleled prosperity after the war, we would have been a German colony with all our Jewish citizens exterminated. And, of course, all the intellectuals and liberals and gays exterminated as well.
I was paying the woman to cut my hair so she didn't have much choice about listening to my rant.
But such ignorance from someone who has so much to lose from a Trump presidency.
