Apparently the era of the "C-Span face" is over

I'm home sick so I decided to catch some of the one-question 7-minute confirmation hearings.

From DeVos's embarrassing display yesterday to Price's today I've noticed something different. The Senate staffers are no longer sitting there with stonefaced emotionless blank looks on their faces.

Eight years ago at the Obama GOTV event that we hosted there was a staffer for the late Sen. Inouye (D-HI)n our house. Inouye was not a TV guy, he got things done out of the spotlight. I asked this staffer about what I've always called the "C-Span face". She laughed and said that yeah they were all told to have no emotion and that the strict order in the Senator's office was that SHE was not to be in the chamber. "I just can't control my body language when I hear some of their bullsh|t".

I've noticed over the last few days that staffers are smiling even laughing, raising eyebrows, and rolling eyes. I don't know if it's a lack of decorum or just a sign of our times. The BS is so thick that human emotion just can't be contained anymore.

I'd see a bunch of grim staffers and wonder what grim portent I was missing.

Gonna be interesting to watch the new regime, who don't seem to understand how cameras ( and twitter) work.
