Here's how screwed we are
H.L. Mencken said: "Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American people."
Well, after Reagan, George W., and now Trump, that's hard to argue with.
No one has to go to Harvard, Yale, MIT, Cal Tech, or some other top shelf university to "learn" intelligence. Many go to these esteemed schools to learn more facts, and earn a degree which is a passport to some of the best jobs available in our high tech world. And they also go to these schools to make contacts with others who will, without doubt, become members of the ruling class.
But let's take a step back. Intelligence can't be taught. You either were born with it or not.
Information and knowledge on the other hand, can be taught. But the way that knowledge is applied and used is a function of preconceived notions that you/we/all of us, were taught as children.
For over a century or more, the United States has provided universal, basic education free of cost, to every child. And, as a guess, most of us "got it." The knowledge we were given taught most of us the difference between right and wrong.
So how did Trump, the "evil elves" that surround him, and his horrible cabinet appointees come about? And why are they now standing on the verge of being in charge and ruling us all?
Here's my guess. Millions of Americans, although given a basic education, are more susceptible to their biasis and prejudices, than they are to their knowledge. Information/knowledge is in the brain. Animosity is in the gut and is easier to be manipulated by others.
And this time around, far too many were influenced by the message being aimed at their prejudices, biases and things they believed "in their gut" to be true.
In other words,too many people boutht into ten tons of bullshit. They were driven by their own biases/prejudices/hatreds of the "other." And because of a miserable institution called the "electoral college," which was a gimmick that was passed to ensure the continuation of slavery, we are now stuck with an executive branch of government that has no conscience, values, morals, or decency.
In plain English, we are fucked.
And if you are among those who don't fully understand it, read today's column by Charles Blow in today's NY Times. (Google will get you there.) This is a columnist who hasn't pulled his punches or tried to stay in the good graces of the Orange Monster who will be sworn in tomorrow as President of the United States.
Charles Blow tells us about the military parades and American flag displays that Trump has planned for America. The only question he doesn't address is one that I personally worry about. When does the book burning start?

I mean sure, nothing ever came of it, nothing bad. And I mean sure, her predecessor did too.
So, OK, in truth there is actually no story here at all, but she let those men die in Benghazi! Well wait, actually 5 separate GOP investigations said no, she didnt.
Certainly the end of everything we know, love and count on in life is worth not having the woman who had a private server?
By the way, there are people who call themselves progressive who are still saying no matter how bad it gets, NOT voting for Hillary is not something they regret.
The only positive out of all of this is watching as the world spirals out of control and pointing at one of them and saying
"This is YOUR fault!"
Sure it is Trump voters fault but they arent smart enough to know what they are doing, progressives are supposed to KNOW better.
