The danger of Republican indifference.

It doesn't seem to matter to them that their President is walking into office with so many questions and conflicts of interests that are possible threats to our nation. In doing so, they themselves are a threat to our security.

If it doesn't matter whether or not the President is in conflict with our Constitution or whether or not he has too cozy a relationship with the dictator, Vladimir Putin, then what does matter to them? It appears that the only thing that matters is the possession of power.

As of today, President Trump will be in direct conflict with our Constitution in regards to his ownership in the Old Post Office Building. The Constitution forbids his ownership in such a lease. Are they going to try to amend the Constitution? Do they think they can do that with a simple vote??

The Republicans have ignored his lack of transparency, as if it is nothing. It doesn't matter if he owns property in countries that do not have the best interests of the US in mind. It doesn't matter if he betrays decades of foreign policy with our allies. It doesn't matter if he is an immoral narcissist that may be subject to blackmail by foreign entities.

They are indifferent to it all. We can only conclude that they are not capable of governing our country and that they are a threat to our Constitution.

1. From what I have seen of them personally, all they care about is that they won.

I don't think many of them realize just what their "prize" will really amount to.

They are not indifferent, they are giddy at the thought of taking everything we have accomplished over 70 years.

Medicare and Medicaid go right away with ACA and Social Security within 2 yrs.

All regulations we count on like nutritional info on food packaging, protection of the environment by polluters, etc, all gone.

Overtime pay? Gone. Unemployment benefits? Gone. Tort lawsuits? Gone. Protesters protected from harm by authorities? Gone.

So long the list is.

3. a few things most of them seem to feel strongly about:

- maintaining white privilege

- enforcing Christian "morality" on others (especially when it comes to oppressing gay people)

- not spending their "hard earned money" helping "lazy welfare takers"

- making liberals suffer

I'd rather they were a bit more indifferent about these things, if it would mean we could all just live our lives in a functioning society.

They've also been fed a steady diet of misinformation and propaganda, many of them for their entire lives, and have a strong conviction that the Republican party is the only acceptable political party...clearly it makes no difference who the candidate is for a great many of these people. In spite of numerous internal contradictions and internecine conflicts, they come together as a unified and highly motivated voting bloc. They'll always vote Republican, even when the nominee is a heinous human being and wholly unsuitable for the office.

But yeah, I don't think a lot of them understand or even care about the actual functions of government, and how it all relates to our lives. Well, the people at the top do...and they've been tremendously successful in duping large segments of the population into voting against their own best interests, in the service of maintaining the wealth and privilege of the oligarchs.
