I'm sorry. The republicans destroyed the respect for the office.
It is laughable that they expect us to build it back for trump.
That's a big fat fucking Nope.

(34,136 posts)I respected the office while GW Bush was in it even though I never respected the man. Same for Nixon, Reagan and GHW Bush.
I will still respect the office, probably far more than the short fingered vulgarian currently parking his orange ass there, but I will never respect that fool. I detested him as a businessman, found him revolting as a reality TV figure, and am terrified that he is now the top politician in this country.
I just hope he doesn't FUBAR our country.

(63,221 posts)Why should we have any more respect for the office than the republicans do? There is no political office in this land that they HAVEN'T degraded, not the least of which is the presidency.

(13,462 posts)Not by our allies, I'm sure. The "office" has been rendered less respectable. He is not the leader of the free world, and the rest of the free world knows it.

(141 posts)And now they want respect ? Hah, nice one. Not to forget that little donnie was once spreading lies about Obama's birth certificate.

(10,133 posts)I've heard it during the Nixon, Reagan, Bush, and Bush years; not a whisper of it during Clinton's or Obama's terms.
