How do we stay hopeful?

This is a dark day for our country. I remember how awful I felt when *ush was elected and how much worse I felt when the war started, then Valerie Plame was outed as CIA, we found out there were no WMD and they knew it, and I was miserable until Obama took over.

I don't want to be miserable this time.

Does anyone here have any positive suggestions for how not to give in to despair?

I am determined not to be like I was during the last idiot's presidency. I want to be happy **anyway**.

The country isn't him and it isn't his 25%. It's US, the many who might get woke. It's the African American community who knows what this is like and would mentor us in dealing with out pain if we ask. It's the children we've raised who do not even GET why anyone would discriminate in the way those old farts are.

Remember every kind and generous person you've ever known, gather them us inside you, pull strength from them and take care of yourself. You're the engine. We're the engine. We need to do all the positive we can to keep ourselves going and to THRIVE!

I can't speak for others, but you live as normally as you can, you stay lit. There are more of us than there are of them and this was the last gasp of a dying beast. It took every piece of dirty bullshit they could muster to pull it off WITH the help of a foreign entity.

They are going to be true to their withered shitball hearts and overreach like a son of a bitch. It's going to hurt but it's going to hurt the fickle idiots that voted for them the worst. I'm thoroughly sorry it's going to hurt our allies in those areas as well.

Meanwhile the country is going to continue to get more colorful and this includes my pink brothers and sisters that don't subscribe to White Nationalist sensibilities. It's going to be rough but we'll punch through this shit stronger, madder and ready to go than ever before.

a snippet:

Because we have already denied Trump national unity. Because he enters office dragged down by the lowest approval ratings of any new president. Because Trump is going to hamstring his own administration by intentionally poisoning every arm of it with internecine fighting. Because his administration is full of inexperienced people who will leave holes we can drive lawsuit-bearing trucks through. Because he inherits a vast federal government full of dedicated government workers who will push back and blow whistles and resign individually or en masse in extreme cases. We saw it under Bush. We will see it again.

Your senators are not your states. Your mayor is not your town. Your dog-catcher is not your dog. President Trump is your president, but he is not your country.

“America” did not choose Donald Fucking Trump. Voters who did choose Donald Trump do not universally subscribe to everything you ascribe to him. So, no, “we” have not gone backwards. “We” are not racist (well, we are, but we’ll get to that). “We” are not fascists.

So let’s drop the conceit that Trump has exposed something “essential” about “the real America.” There’s no such thing. Let that liberate you.

Just FYI, they reccommend viewing in browser, which I thought I was doing the first time, but the "browser" link sends you to:
