What Hillary has had to deal with from really spiteful people is just astonishing.
Just another slight, another punch in the face.
Fuck it.

Jesus F. Christ, I'm going to the march (in Seattle) because of Hillary. This is outrageous.
Anyway, I messaged them.

(8,541 posts)Having her name listed wouldn't have made it all about her and it would have gone a long way to mending some fences.
I'll be marching in Seattle. I'm sure Hillary will be recognized as other cities have said they will be paying homage to her.

What is the difference? I read they used a quote of Hillary's but didn't credit her for it.. what's up with that?

Fuck the bitter organizers that left her out. Fuck unifying if we had to continuously deal with petty slights from those that would like to diminish the work of Democrats. Fuck it all.

No, she hasn't been "invisible"

(27,792 posts)I wish people would quit saying that. Not only has she been seen out in public, frequently supporting local businesses, I might add, she's had two public appearances, including a speech.

The list as someone said "was puny".. they need to go back to the drawing board.
Hillary Clinton's Name Was Omitted From the Women's March Honoree List and People Are Angry
snip//
On Thursday, January 19, the movement released a document about its guiding vision and definition of principles, which included the names of 27 women who have "paved the way" for equal rights. Clinton, who was the first-ever female presidential nominee for a major political party, was not among them and people took notice.
snip//
A petition on Change.org was created in light of the omission. "As activists and allies, we are dismayed that March organizers excluded Hillary Rodham Clinton as an honoree who has inspired women around the world to serve and to lead," the request reads.

They quoted Hillary on their site and didn't credit her, either..

(2,108 posts)This act feels like it buys in to the notion that she doesn't inspire, was worthy enough or geez...I can't even come up with a valid reason why.
Anything that supports making yet another great woman invisible is suspect.
That said, still we march!
Spider Jerusalem
(21,786 posts)it distracts from the message (which is, opposition to everything Trump stands for and everything the Republican Party will try to get away with if allowed to).
SticksnStones
(2,108 posts)Who won the popular vote by close to 3 million more votes. That number alone makes her a de facto leader in the movement and certainly millions of women feel that way.
To leave her name out, to deemphasis her current place in history is to make yet another woman invisible just because her presence makes some uncomfortable.
Fuck the discomfort. You don't think the right will find some other fill-in-the-blank name to vilify and delegitimize? Of course they will. It's what they do.
Don't want to make it about her? It is about her and about every woman and every person who feels compelled to raise their voice in resistance.
Don't make it about her?! Why? Because she's the one they aim at? What makes ANYONE think they won't just find the next powerful progressive woman to aim at?!
Fuck their target practice. Hillary Clinton is a successful, inspirational woman who should NOT cede the mic or the light because of this loss.

This could have been one of the most joyous days in the history of The United States Of America. Instead, we're plunging into the maw of oblivion. I am beyond resentful towards anyone who worked to create this nightmare.

(13,616 posts)not in a time when people are first learning about marching and organizing. Leaving Hillary off the list is blatant political ass grabbing, and yes I use that language because it is exactly what the organizers of this event are doing. It's one thing to be angry at Hillary, one thing even to dislike Hillary,, but that does not mean that mean that we get to go ahead and rip open the old wounds will we should be making new wounds against the establishment.
If there is one thing tthat sickens me, it is the fact that despite the fact Bernie Sanders call for reconciliation and tried to rally all Democrats to be Trump, some people are just trying to do what they really wanted to do anyway. Now granted I remind Hillary you supporters just as much as Stein supporters that when the time came to unify, Bernie decided to do that and he spoke very clearly about it.
Then again, many of the people in this March, are still shaking their head wondering how come many Blacks, Latinos, LGBTs , and other minorities have not given them the enthusiastic support they want. Maybe, just maybe said people realized that the greens were very willing to let Trump win and of course take advantage of the suffering that they would have to go through all the while retreating to their warm comfortable spots and wagging their fingers at them. It is one thing to say that the Democrats that supported Hillary made some mistakes, and at times acted a bit hypocritical, but you sure as hell don't make a case for that when you yourselves, and yes I do mean the folks who organized this event, have hypocrisies that stink to the seven heavens! Whenever they take an event that can and should be the starting point for genuine resistance to Trump, and make it another opportunity to grind their cigarette butts into open nerves, not only do they show why they are not trustworthy, but Trump and his handlers get to laugh.
Note to any Hillary voters that read this and think I am trying to go ahead and diss them: I wrote when I wrote because I want to even shake the people that sincerely think that they are doing good by dissing Ellery, people who do have issues of anger that are not resolved yet. I wrote this to them to point out that the only people they are helping are the enemy, considering that that enemy has an army of churches, Klansmen, and any number of would be "lone gunman" types who will always just happen to be armed to the teeth, and who will just happen to be reading the same books and going to the same websites that the last series of lone gunman happened to cconsume, this should be a case of all hands on deck, even hands that are still angry and that still do not trust each other. Because there is one thing all of us can trust in: that we need to give constant, clear resistance to Trump, because that is one recourse we have left.
joshcryer
(62,265 posts)Dolores Huerta being put on the list with the shit she went through after dealing with these same types? Pure antagonism, pure hatred.
And that it's so trivially fixed, but people attempt to rationalize hurting people instead, is exactly why we lose.

(4,462 posts)Thus was a deliberate snub, a grind it in one more time. And from women, no less.
I hope young women who are following this discussion take heed , and understand now just a tad more about why we older women are so passionate about Hillary. A lifetime of fighting FOR THEM, and here we are seeing the same old bullshit, and from within.
I've been at this since 1971. I have lived my life as a role model for strong women and girls, . I have coached girls sports, assumed leadership roles , been politically active, marched for reproductive rights, all in the hopes that future society would treat women better than they did us -that someday we would truly be equal.
When I was small , boys would be asked " What do you want to be when you grow up?" Girls were not asked about careers, it was something about your pretty dress, your boyfriend, not that we would want to do things outside the home , or have a thought in our
'little' heads. Know your place.
I could go on...the point is, it has been a struggle. And still we fight. To see this snub is so discouraging and, at the same time, angering.
You diss Hillary when it comes to fighting for women's rights, you diss me too.
Is the march anti-Twitler? Yes.
But for many, as you are reading, it is also FOR HER, and for our girls.
The struggle continues...
