Mom (89 years old) says she'll be happy to NOT be here when Trump era is over

She lived through the Great Depression and a hellish childhood. She told me not to worry and that the era of TRUMP will be over at some point. My response was that yes, it will be over eventually but what will our destroyed nation look like when it is? She replied that she dreaded thinking of it and was happy that she would not live to see it.

I told her she is fortunate in that.

Two of her kids (the hateful and ignorant ones) voted for SHitler. The rest of us voted for Hillary. ALL OF US will suffer for it. Except Mom, who will be blessedly resting in peace in a beautiful place. SHE is the lucky one.

Yep. It's THAT bad.

(or will elect to leave us)... Truth be told, I think most of us are fighting hard NOT to allow ourselves to consider such thoughts...

I try to remember the generation of my grandparents--who dealt with the horrors of WWII and all the uncertainty with unwavering determination. Yet we were not then fighting the same internal threats then as the Germans from their own government-- and by extension, much of Europe... Truly, this feels like a path never taken, and it is intensely frightening.

I'm done with platitudes, but not (yet) with hope.
