Meanwhile, in Act II...

...the Republicans are standing back in the shadows, waiting for Trump to take all the heat for their dastardly deeds.

So long as they can get his signature on some important legislation, such as tax cuts, they are willing to keep him around.

Once his poll numbers shrink to the mid-20's, they will look for ways to dump him. They will first ask for his resignation. If all else fails, they would impeach.

Is this the direction we are headed?

I agree. But to successfully impeach, they'll need Democrats to make a 2/3 vote. tinrobot Jan 2017 #4

The real scary prospect is if Donald decides he doesn't want to go.

Mike Pence in Gitmo is an interesting notion.

But, I would add...

After what happened in DC, and around the world, today, I can't believe they can wait very long to get rid of him. This is the second day of his presidency, and the largest crowd in history turned out in protest at the damage he has done, or could potentially inflict, on this nation.

If the Republicans are looking to repair the damage he has done in time for the midterm elections, they cannot afford many scenes like what happened today...especially if they have to use Russian interference as the means to dump him. That is some serious mess to clean up. This will hamper their ability to pass their granny-starving legislation. And I really don't believe he will go down without a fight...he sees enemies everywhere he looks, and wouldn't hesitate to let his party members twist with him. He's a real dangerous character, all the way around.

I think today's events have done serious, critical damage to his ability to retain his office.

Well done, Ladies!

I hope our leaders in Congress realize that and find a way to use it as a bargaining chip.

“They’ll play along for a while,” the unidentified friend said. “They’ll get as much as they want – tax cuts galore, deregulation, military buildup, slash all those poverty programs, and then get to work on Social Security and Medicare – and blame him. And he’s such a fool he’ll want to take credit for everything.”

Asked what happens then, the Reich’s friend laughed and said, ‘They like [Vice President] Pence.”

“Pence is their guy. They all think Trump is out of his mind,” he explained. “So the moment Trump does something really dumb – steps over the line – violates the law in a big stupid clumsy way … and you know he will …”

“They impeach him?” Reich asked.

“You bet. They pull the trigger,” was the reply.
