There Will Be NO UNITY

To those who have been promoting the idea that we should all “unite” behind the thin-skinned, temper tantrum throwing idiot who was just inaugurated, please know this:

There will be NO unity between those who voted to put an ignorant buffoon in the Oval Office and those of us who respect that office, and expect it to be filled by someone equally worthy of respect.

There will be NO unity between those who support a racist bigot and those of us who recognize our fellow Americans as an integral part of who we are – regardless of their gender, their colour, their religion, or their ethnicity.

There will be NO unity between the adherents of a known liar and those of us who believe in the truth.

There will be NO unity between those who elected a Putin puppet as Commander-in-Chief and those of us who actually do put America first when it comes to who leads our nation.

There will be NO unity between those who support denying healthcare to millions, taking science out of our classrooms, and limiting a woman’s dominion over her own body, and those of us who find such an agenda to be ignorant, lacking in compassion – and, quite frankly, downright deplorable.

There will be NO unity between those who stand behind a pResident who has been lauded as their champion by white supremacists and those of us who stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the champions of equal rights for all.

There will be NO unity between those who believe a self-described “pussy grabber” who publicly mocks the disabled is an appropriate president and those of us who think our president should conduct himself with dignity and decorum.

There will be NO unity between those who think a man who spends his waking hours “tweeting” nonsense like a 12-year-old and those of us who think a president should be the adult in the room – and act like it.

There will be NO unity between those too stupid to know who and what they were voting for and those of us who tried to dissuade them from their own foolishness.

There will be NO unity between those who are now calling for unity and those of us who remember their divisiveness for the past eight years.

The only UNITY Trump supporters are ever going to see is the unity displayed across the nation on January 21st – those united AGAINST everything Trump says, everything he stands for, and everything he is.

Get used to it, oh mournful choir singing ”Give Trump a Chance”: There is NO CHANCE. We will not be “uniting” with you at any time, on any level. You and your pResident represent everything the vast majority of Americans loathe.

So go sing that song up each others’ asses – no one else is listening.

In other words, none.

Should we oppose them or him or both? The way i look at is a little push would be better than a big shove when it all falls apart. That way they can only assume to themselves that they did it to themselves (which they did).

Another thing i know for sure, change is going to come again. Maybe it might be bad for awhile, but without destruction of a something there can be no construction of any something else. And the idea of good or bad mostly applies to vantage point while looking at it

And lastly, the insane notion of unity. Unity to what?

was on CNN a few minutes ago saying that Trump's "silly" comments on Twitter are just his way of "defending his heart" because he's like a big marshmallow, tough on the outside and soft and gooey on the inside.

And, that disturbing mental image aside, she followed up with the blather about how we all need to unite behind him because he's the Prez, he deserves respect, ect.

Respect isn't a given. It has to be earned, not demanded. That's going to be a hard lesson for Trump.

to offer a genuine apology to those he hurt, and to also reign in the people that see him as a tool for their powerlust (like your Neo Nazis and Goldman Sachs alumni) then, he would have shown that he has half a clue. He made it very clear he did not, when he ramped up all his negatives, and made his first order of business a means to destroy Obamacare. Sorry Trump, if you could have taken the time to tick off the Chinese, if you cold have taken the time to insult Meryl Streep and the cast of Hamilton/SNL, you could have taken the time to offer olive branches, but you damned well did not!

Furthermore, let's wave our magic wand and say Trump did have a change a heart. Mitch "one term president" McConnell and Paul "Kill Grandma" Ryan are still in charge of congress, which means that we need to still attack trump lest he be used by them as a point to attack us. We know that what they mean bu Inity is to make us docile cattle walking to the salughterhouse.

It DOESN'T MEAN being "stronger together" by standing with bigots, racists, xenophobes, Islamaphobes, white supremacists, KKK adherents, and Putin-lovers.

"Stronger Together" was a rallying cry to those willing to stand up AGAINST those things, not an invitation to join their ranks - or have their ranks join ours.

"We need to unify the country by joining forces with bigots, racists, xenophobes, homophobes, misogynists, and those who support Trump's idiocy."

There is nothing those people have to offer that "benefits the American people" - in fact, their "plans and priorities" are the complete opposite of ours.

We are "stronger together" when we make it crystal clear that decent people WILL NOT UNITE with those who have no sense of decency whatsoever.

... other people, no.

Lines were drawn in this last election - and they cannot be ignored nor erased. Those who supported/voted for Trump stood up in support of his racism, his bigotry - his out-and-out stupidity.

I have no desire to "unite" with such people. They are on their own. They are not part of anything that truly matters.

I am not attempting to invalidate what you are saying; I am just pointing out that Hillary Clinton espoused a different approach and a different message than that.

Look at her concession speech, for instance.

I agree that we have to fight racism and bigotry, but I think that HRC exhorted us to find ways to be more united and less divided as a country.

Maybe, with that approach, we can help some Trump voters understand the error of their ways. Many who voted for him did so out of ignorance and confusion.

It's hard for me to figure out the best way to deal with this current nightmare scenario we are living in. I have been trying to reach out to the semi-reasonable people I know who voted for Trump, looking to find some way to convince them of the error of their ways. Now that there isn't the HRC "corruption" for them to use, there might be a chance. But I understand the instinct towards straight up resistance.

What amazes me is that the PM of the UK entered American soil and only addressed republicans, does she really think she is another effing thatcher. No other PM except when that asshole republican invited the PM of Israel to visit America without the approval of the then sitting President Obama. The effing republicans are behaving as if they own America. Time for the people to protest and undermine these nazis, this is America not a dictatorship! Plus trump is a fucking liar!
