He really doesn't know who he is - so he tries to be all things to all people and as such is not very good at any one of them. Given that - he deludes himself to thinking that he's the best at everything. Therein lies his problem.
Is he a businessman; a television celebrity; a playboy; a politician; a marketeer; a family man; a philanthropist; etc.
What exactly is he or what does he think he really is? And.....
Has he finally reached his level of incompetence? (Remember the Peter Principle)
Note: There's a joke there in the Peter Principle - but I won't go there.

(865 posts)There are people who don't have strong sense of self, and to an extreme, I think the term "identity problem" is a good description. I do not know if this is a disorder or key characteristic of one; but it is a problematic trait or condition of some people. And it could exist in addition to the narcissism.

(6,008 posts)Trump reached his level of incompetence a long time ago. He's not trying to be anything for anyone else, everything he does is for himself. He craves attention and obedience through love, respect, and fear. He tries to acquire these through ordering it in his subordinates, buying it from those he can't demand it from, and getting rid of those for which neither work. The problem is being in the executive branch of government is not like being a business executive, you can't just fire the citizens that didn't vote for you.
