Scott Walker insists parents receiving food stamps should work at least 80 hours a month

"Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is lobbying for changes to FoodShare, the state’s food stamp program, reports the Wisconsin State Journal. If the governor has his way, families could lose their benefits unless a parent with school-aged kids works or gets job training 80 hours a month.

Many Republican governors, like Walker and Maine’s Paul LePage, have tried to gut their states’ food stamp programs or apply stricter controls to who has access. Some of these efforts have been thwarted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the federal agency in charge of food stamp programs."

He is obviously clueless about how difficult it is to get a job when you are only available during school hours. What are they supposed to do when the kids are out of school for vacations etc?

If it is an all day program, who is going to pay for childcare? I know lots of folks who would love to go to vo-tech but can't afford the tuition and childcare they would need.

There IS no job training for them because they can not work. Hell what about married couples who are both disabled and can not work? I do know some of those. Oh lets see THEY GOT QUARTER OF THEIR BODY BLOWN UP BY AN IUD AND THE GOVERNMENT DOES NOT RESPECT THEM!!!!!!????? This just angers me.

If they had a child. Over $3600 with a child and married.

And on top of that the money is exempt from Federal taxes, so it's like making even more than that.

This is a scumbag move, but let's keep the discussion to realistic examples. A person who suffered damage to enough of their body to be unemployable is going to be pushed over the income limits for SNAP by their VA benefits.

And on top of that for those examples there is, in fact, job training from the VA vocational rehab program.

There are people who were not in the military who became disabled or have always been disabled who can not work no matter how easy some may think the job may be. I know this from my own personal experience also. How are those people supposed to survive?
