asking them to reject all the cabinet picks. Emailed over the weekend and posted to their FB pages today.

5. From everything I read and hear

Emailing them is useless. Take the time to make a phone call and pen a letter.

6. I prefer to call, but

I'm getting messages like: "Even if the Senator's voicemail box is not full when you call, it will probably be full by the time you finish talking and may not record your message". This started yesterday for me.

I don't think they actually read many e-mails, but they certainly know when they're getting a large volume and what they're in reference to. What they generally ignore are mass e-mails with cut-and-paste organization-generated messages. I try to write in my own words, taking my cue from talking points (just as they do) and once I've written something I'm satisfied with, use it for all three of my congresspeople.

My intention is not to teach them something they don't know, but to add to the volume on my side on the issue.

I also think we all (and I'm guilty of not doing this) need to go to any open forums, town halls, etc. We all need to write letters to the editors, call talk shows, etc. We need to be one loud voice overall.

in one of my Senator's offices. I'll ask her how different types of contacts are handled.

And yes, the more we can do the better, but any effort is good and all matter. Let's encourage even small efforts towards political activism.
