TPM - "Spicer Grasps For Evidence To Back Trumps Baseless Illegal Voting Claims"

http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/spicer-struggles-to-support-trump-illegal-voting-claims

By MATT SHUHAM Published JANUARY 24, 2017, 2:19 PM EDT

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer on Tuesday defended President Trump’s claims that "3 to 5 million people" had voted illegally in the 2016 election, providing no supporting evidence beyond an 8-year-old, discredited study.

He also said "anything is possible" when pressed about whether the President would order an investigation into what he suspected was voter fraud on a massive scale.

“He's stated his concerns of voter fraud and people voting illegally during the campaign and continues to maintain that belief based on studies and evidence people have brought to him,” Spicer said at a press briefing Tuesday.

He was responding to a question about Trump’s reported claim that three to five million “illegals” voted in the November election, swinging the popular vote to Hillary Clinton.

The Dems need to call for and push for an investigation about his claims that "3 to 5 million people" had voted illegally in the 2016 election. They need to say if this president believes this to be true that it completely undermines the whole election process and actions need to be taken to prevent this from happening in further elections.

They need to say that such an investigation needs to be comprehensive in that it will involve a thorough review of the voting and the election process in each state and that this investigation should result in standardizing the voting and election process across all the states. This would result in the possibility of either paper ballot voting or standardized voting machines (same in all states); prohibit reporting of results of an election until all votes are in across the country and they are reviewed and certified.

The American People need to be reassured that the process works and that their vote counts.

I believe that if the Dems push for such an investigation it will get the support of the American People or it will put Trump on notice that his lies have consequences and maybe prevent him from any future lies or putting out alternative facts.

We need to stand up to this bully. This is a good opportunity to stand up to him. Put up or shut up Trump.

This is what they will use for "Nationwide Voter ID", and once they install someone like Pryor to the SC, it will all be done. Racism and Voter Suppression all tied up is a nice legal little bow.

Maybe Bernie Sander would be "delighted" to work on Voter ID legislation with Trump.

It's an opportunity to expose disenfranchisement acts being committed by the GOP, as well look into voting methods across the country and prove which are best for the people.

Trump opened the can of worms for us, now we need to go fishing.

Trump expects us to believe that they managed to come up with 3-5 million illegal votes, yet not enough to win 3-4 swing states, which only needed 80,000 or so to flip? Dumb. And he must think we're stupid enough to believe such crap.

Trump has to be insane or stupid or both. I cannot think why anyone would choose to believe such nonsense otherwise.

What exactly do you say? He doubled down with that stupid 14% pew study or whatever(later not a pew study, who knows what moronic thing Sean believed), but do you just go to the President doesn't believe that, and he's joking?

Do you say 'that's something I don't want to talk about' implying the President is ignorant and crazy?

How many press secretaries will Trump go through with all of Trump's lies? Maybe they should just stop having the press conferences as the job is completely impossible.

He won the EV and he's sitting in the WH, not Hillary (to our country's everlasting shame). It shouldn't matter whether or not he won the PV and if he's that concerned that he's not popular or well-liked, now's the time for him to sit down and do some self-assessment (which we know he won't do but anyway) and figure out how to not come off as some thin-skinned ignorant jerk. George W. Bush, who won by an even slimmer EV margin and only took office because SCOTUS stopped the recount, never sat around following the election and fretted or raged about the fact that Al Gore won the PV. This is insane. If he has proof of massive voting fraud, he needs to show us the proof or just shut up about it IMHO. He's the sorest loser I think that I've ever seen. If I managed- after doing everything he did in order to be elected- to be able to plant my butt in the Oval Office, I would be thanking a higher power that I won and go on with being President.
