Appearing with host Brian Williams on MSNBC Tuesday, a conservative radio host lamented the missteps in the first four days by President Donald Trump and his aides, saying the newly inaugurated president seems to be running an alternative reality administration.
After Kellyanne Conways widely mocked and false assertion that Press Secretary Sean Spicer was merely providing alternative facts when he said Trumps inauguration crowd was the biggest ever, conservative host Charlie Sykes is now fearful what the future holds.
Charlie, weve had a lot of guests on the air during this campaign season, a lot of people where youre sitting at the desk who have changed, Williams said. You are a very loyal Republican from the Mid-Western U.S. And during that montage (of Trump administration miscues) at the top of the broadcast, I was watching you too, and you were nodding no. You find this highly disturbing.
Well, it is disturbing. And first of all, yes, its a distraction and yes, obviously, its a lie about the numbers, Sykes replied in reference to Spicers wildly inaccurate description of inaugural crowd counts. But this is really not about the numbers anymore and its really not about voter fraud. Its about the whole concept of reality, and about truth and about whether or not this administration is, in fact, going to be an alternative reality administration.

(59,439 posts)The same Charlie Sykes who, gosh, was shocked, shocked to discover that people like himself had destroyed civil political discourse?
The same Charlie Sykes who has a book to sell?
Oh, yeah, that guy.

Did Sykes join his fellows in beating the drums for Donnie? And if he did, did he even BOTHER to see what sort of guy he was rooting for?
Right-wing talk show hosts have a lot of 'splainin' to do, if not in this lifetime, then in the hereafter.
