Or use eminent domain to take adverse possession of the traffic and quality of life blight that is Trump Tower. I am only half in jest.

Most of me says, yeah? So? You think we can't take care of ourselves and our own? Just watch.

I happen to live in one of the other sanctuary cities, a small one. To be honest, we will be perfectly fine without federal funding. It's about 1% of our budget, mostly in bond guarantees, not actual cash. We can make that work through state and regional resources. The exception has been surplus arms from DHS. And my city/county does not actually need the APV that has never once run. We'll be fine without the 700 rifles that ended up being only 290 once they were all disassembled, fixed and put back together. And if we're not taking their money, it becomes much easier to not cooperate. Plus, most of us don't want to be in bed with this maladministration.

It's something we need to focus on at our local levels -- city funding and city council should be a Democratic priority, at both the institutional and local, personal level. Cities are our home turf.

each year to subsidize public transportation... Withholding federal funds COULD cripple public transportation within New York City. Be mindful, several million people per day travel into and from their jobs in NYC.

New Yorkers, please weigh in: Is it fairly common for people to commute daily to NYC to work from as far away as Philadelphia?

I could count on my fingers and toes the people that I have met that commute from Philly. It usually involves a marriage or divorce and a volatile living situation. I do know lots more that commute around the world on planes, usually for a 4 day week. And I have commuted from NYC to TX and NC daily at times.

Make Trump go through passport control everytime he goes in and out of NYC to go to Trump Towers. NYC could withdraw any support they provide Trump and his family. Perhaps charge the US Federal Govt. for the negative impact that Trump has caused the local businesses. Make him pay for a visa everytime he goes in and out of NYC.

May sign a security treaty with China. Bill DeBlasio could get really creative.

I worked for the city and it was one transfer after another followed by a layoff and rehiring the same day in a different category. I left the roller coaster and went west where I found a more stable career. Not without its own cutbacks and concerns. But it all worked out better than if I stayed in NY. My heart goes out to NYC and it's employees. They deserve better than The Conald.
