In ny state, the legislature attempted new, ridiculous teacher evaluations in an attempt to override job security laws. It was totally b.s. and in 4 years didn't result in a single erroneous firing. (Those who deserved to be fired, for traditional reasons, still had their day in court, as usual.)

Basically, they tried to install artificial controls over a real system, used by real, every-day people, and it collapsed under the weight of parental political pressure. It didn't work, because it was created out of a basic misunderstanding that schools don't operate under business models.

So, we can resist and blow the whistle, organize and broadcast. We can hold on to what works. There aren't enough of them to control the rest of us. We have cellphones and the internet, and we can communicate and organize.

We will prevail.

For tradition, rules, or logic.
They have made more and more demands on teachers for the past 20 years and it is taking a toll. They have been out to destroy public education for a long time and this admin seems to smell blood.
But we can always hope.
