The term 'sanctuary city' is wingnut propaganda: don't use it

Divided government is part of the genius of the American experiment: it means that we are all belong to several distinct jurisdictions, with partially overlapping authority -- and this creates constant tension about the limits of government power

It is not the responsibility of city governments to enforce Federal immigration law: that is a Federal responsibility. Those who want a Federal immigration presence on local streets, at levels similar to the local law enforcement staffing, are free to seek the Federal funding and Federal bureaucratic structure necessary to support such a level of Federal enforcement

I like the term: "sanctuary city".

But I do understand what the OP is saying; it's not a city's job to enforce federal immigration law so a city is just a city.

5. Yes, made great points about the tension of jurisdictions. But federal funding - always that carrot.

themselves that, they are calling attention to the issue and refusing actively to do the feds work on immigration.
