Why are so many Republicans against Trumpsky's call for an investigation of vote fraud?

Like many of you, I'm sure, I've had an uneasy feeling from the moment the final returns were tallied in November. Trumpsky won by a very convenient 1% margin in just three states, avoiding an automatic recount. Then, when recounts were ordered, they were quickly shut down for questionable reasons. Never mind the Russians; this election was stinky as hell from the get-go. So...

Maybe the top Republicans really, seriously don't want any full scale investigation into the 2016 election. Maybe they know that a little sunshine might shine a light on some very dirty dealing. We know that e-voting machines were a Republican installation, all owned by Republican friends, with no ability to test and verify underlying software. We also know that Republicans have an steely determination to play the long game. They'll wait until the time is right to act. Voter fraud has always been a hard-on issue for the GOP...why are they suddenly saying Trumpsky is going too far? Why don't they want him to investigate one of their biggest pet issues?

Why? Could it be that they really don't want anyone looking too deeply into the 2016 election?

by lying to people about the need for voter ID. If it actually comes to light through this investigation that there is no voter fraud, it turns the tables on them by their own president.

will not be able to use 'voter fraud' as an excuse to increase voter ID laws or other laws to make it harder for Democrats to vote. In other words they don't want to get to the truth on this and have it public. Trump is going rogue again. That would be why you say they are unhappy.
