Sure, the wages are lower, but so are the costs.
And if they can retain their US citizenships, which they can, that would be a Yuuge fuck you to the Trumpster.
Win-win all around.

Experienced American workers moving to Mexico, more jobs, more revenue, more experience.

(43,890 posts)After living in the US for 40+ years as a US citizen born abroad. I've had a chance to meet with many members of the US ex-pat community in Mexico, particularly in San Miguel de Allende where I'm considering retirement.
They love the place.
They love the people.
They love the atmosphere.
Most of all, they love being loved, and feeling welcomed.

(2,003 posts)Are they displacing local, native-born laborers?
Xipe Totec
(43,890 posts)No, they are not earning $6/hr, they are retired.
They are in Mexico because they can stretch their retirement dollars further there, and live in relative comfort and can even afford servants.
For $6/hr in Mexico, you can live a middle class life, reserved for the upper classes in the US.
It is ridiculous to gauge success, and happiness by a single number with no context whatsoever.

(43,890 posts)I grew up in Mexico, surrounded by families whose last names were:
McDonald (Scotts)
Spiegel (German)
Vidaurri (Italian)
Vincent (American)
I could go on.
Mexico recognizes and values talent, knowledge, and education.
Something sadly lacking in the United States these days.
