What Jesus said about Franklin Graham and his ilk:

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness.

Matthew 23:27 King James Version (KJV)

He came to realize how much money is in his daddy's line of work. He's done his best to imitate his voice, etc.

I'm not saying he's a complete douchebag -- Samaritan's Purse has done some good things to help people in need. I don't know how much he skims off the top in executive salaries.

receive a nominal sum from SP. People expect that money to help people and pay adminustrative salaries, benefits, and expense reimbursements, not enrich the founder.

Maybe I'll start one to get money for my kids. At least it's a good cause because one is completely disabled.

at Franklin Graham's request. He probably knew exactly what it would be used for. I agree that Samaritans Purse has done some solid humanitarian work but I donate to other organizations instead. Even my late, devout mom was disgusted when she noticed a picture of Sarah Palin in one of the Samaritans Purse mailings she received. Said my mom, notwithstanding her dementia, "I don't like her. Isn't she the one who spent all that money on clothes?"

And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites
are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and
in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men.
Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
Matthew 6:5

I save this when approached by street preachers or followers of televangelist and other such criminals who bilk money from old people and the vulnerable.

they fled to Egypt to avoid Jesus being murdered... and yet Franklin, Trump and other 'banquet christians' would have our nation be what Jesus referred to as a "goat" in Matthew 25:31-46) and turn away other refugees in desperate need of help.

Matthew 7: 15-23

"Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thorn bushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them."

I feel that using the Bible (especially the New Testament) against the hypocrites is one of our most powerful tools. They cannot really argue, out loud, against what it teaches.....and it does NOT teach what many of these folks practice. They call it Christianity, but it is demonstrably not.

If one claims to be a Christian then they need to realize that they have one job and one commandment to follow. They are created for GOOD WORKS and examples have been provided. Spoiler alert: those good works are based on love of others! Bashing folks and taking away rights or assistance to the needy are definitely forbidden.

The commandment? It is, believe it or not, "Love your neighbor as you love yourself."

Jesus said it, Paul says it, James says it, John says it and the entire New Testament from start to finish states that if we do not love other people then we have no chance to gain eternal life.

Just as an added note, no where in the New Testament are Christians or non-Christians threatened with eternal torment in Hell. (That lesson is a bit more complicated, however. Let's stick to loving other people as the Christian hallmark!)

Another Bible passage to remember. Damn but that Jesus sure knew a stinker when he saw one. His parable of the good Samaritan wasn't very flattering to hypocrite preachers either.

I'm a Buddhist and I know, and hopefully practice, the teachings of Jesus more than the Prosperity Preachers, who worship a jealous and vengeful God.

Feed the poor, heal the sick, practice peace, and love thy neighbor. Not buy my miracle holy water.
