I don't remember all the details about PNAC - but I think it had to do with world domination. I'm just wondering if Trump is working out of the PNAC playbook or if he is inventing his own path to world domination?

(115,681 posts)Trump's "plan," if there is one, is just to bully everybody so he can feel like a big shot. World domination is more likely Putin's goal, and since Trump is merely Putin's poodle, any world dominating won't be done by Trump.

(25,242 posts)Look who is passing the EO's over to Trump to sign - the former head of the RNC. Trump is a puppet of the Repug Party. More and more each day I'm beginning to think that Putin is just a deflection to take the heat off the Repug Party that is calling the shots.
Or the Repug Party is in bed with Putin and together they have some plan to destroy our country and enrich themselves in the destroying.

(1,258 posts)The CONS are getting him to sign everything they want until they get ready to get rid of him and will then pretend to be magnanimous and start distancing themselves from him.
They all know what was in those confidential materials, Democrats and RepubliCONS.
They know that Trump and the crew have connections with the Russians, its all in the timing.

...their vision, blinkered as it was, was to "clean up" all of the countries that had been Soviet client states. Naturally they had blinders on and had a peculiar interpretation of what "cleaned up" meant.
They were (and are - they're still around) ham-handed ideologues when they have to enact their wish list.
Trump makes them look like the subtle, insightful wonks they like to think they are.

(90,656 posts)Then the GOP thought they could manage him. His handlers think they can control him. Well, they can't.
The ill-educated, never took Civics in high school because it was boring or not even offered, alienated, vast middle of this nation swallowed the propaganda whole. Trump was going to be their personal bully who would smite all the people they resented, destroy what they didn't understand, and offer simple solutions to all their troubles.
They all got more than they bargained for. Trojan Horse Donald is the shiny object that is distracting them (and us, and the media if we are not careful) from the real events going on behind him. He's not running the show. Increasingly, the evidence is that Putin and his American tools are.
The GOP in Congress isn't so much in bed with the Kremlin, as they are still in that stage of denial that says there must be a way to handle Mad King Donald, rather than seeing the full catastrophe as it unfolds.

(25,242 posts)The Repug Party is Trump and Trump is the Repug Party. We need to keep associating them with each other. With all the craziness that's been going on these last 7 or 8 days - the American People are getting an education in politics and learning that voting or not voting has consequences.
2018 will be here before you know it. I'm sure there are House Reps and vulnerable Repug Senators that are already beginning their campaign to retain their jobs in 2018.
Trump could provide us with the knockout blow to finally deal with the Repug Party - but the only way for that to really happen is if we continue to tie both Trump and the Repug Party together. They are one and the same and they are destroying America.
The way we deal with Putin is to first deal with the Repug Party. We need to cut them off at the knees and take back control of both the House and Senate - then we can deal with Trump.
I hear all this talk about the Repug Party taking out Trump and moving for his impeachment. I don't believe that it will happen. The Repug Party is afraid of Trump. He knows too much about them and their dirty dealings. If they try and take Trump out - he will take them out with him. So they are going to stay at an arms length of him. We're stuck with Trump for 4 years unless we take back the House and Senate.
And what if Trump doesn't have the dirt on the Repug Party? He'll make up some dirt to take the Repug Party down. He'll lie.

(37,158 posts)The Republicans both liked and disliked Putin, mostly because both sides of that could use him to attack Obama.
The "strong leader" group likes a swaggering dictator (as long as he's white and has all the right enemies). These guys love Trump and became active supporters of Kremlin Don.
The other group, neocons and establishment Republicans, portrayed Obama as feckless and ineffective in the face of a guy who wanted to reestablish Russia's empire, and was bold and ruthless in doing so because the opposition (Obama) was so "weak".
These guys have rolled over and will clap on cue when the applause sign comes on. They'll claim different later if they get the chance, but they've caved.

(15,237 posts)Trumpism is isolationist Fascism that allows alliances to other Fascist States. May the best Fascist win. There is no real plan for Trumpism other than becoming the most deplorable and "greatest" bully possible. If you are into greed Trumpism is your ticket as long as you stay off his enemies list. Even Neo Cons are a step above Trump.

Obama helped take out Libya, and almost Syria. He did it in a way that is far less stupid than an all out invasion, but still.
Maybe Trump will invade Iran, but since they are a Russian ally, I doubt it.

What about all those times I heard Hillary was a tool of the PNAC. Something something neocon, neoliberal, GOP lite.

(53,410 posts)There was actually a really scary plan by PNAC.
The only truthful thing I can say about Trump is I have no idea what Trump wants other than to have power. Is it for good or for bad? I don't know.
PNAC was very clear about what the signatories wanted.
Trump seems to be clear about what Putin wants.

Trump argued that every country with nuclear weapons should be disarmed, except for the USA and Russia.
That's quite different from the neocons and their anti-Russia bent.
