I have questions about our military and this mess.

Including all branches of military what percent of our serving men and women will be willing to fight for us "we the people" against the corrupt Government that we now have? Do most of them care about the average American or are most of them on board with Trump and his goons? I ask because we need to be aware of what our chance for a fight against this is going to be. I also ask the same about all police in the country.

3. Career oriented

That describes the minority of a body of people that are a minute minority of this country. You're talking maybe 300k people. I have no proof other than my experience. The large majority of enlistees are not career minded. It's temporary. Even for the "career-oriented", shit happens, minds change, hell, the military changes. This R vs D in the military is overblown.

Having said that, I agree with "good luck" but for more practical reasons like availability of weapons, logistics, and above all, duty. A sworn oath to uphold the Constitution and obey orders from the CiC. At present, that's Herr Twittler von Shit Gibbon who hasn't had one Congress person, law enforcement agency or regulatory body file formal charges of any kind against him or even hint that it's in the works.

Being a dick isn't illegal and won't convince me to turn my weapon (If I was still active duty) against my fellow citizen who happens to support said dick, no matter how friggin' stupid they are.

As a soldier, I'm looking for my so called Leadership right now. All I hear are yes votes for crazy people to head federal agencies.

However, with the disabled vets I run around with, usually the guys who actually fired a weapon and stuffed body bags won't vote for anyone who is at all hawkish. That was a huge obstacle for my voting for Hillary. I only did so out of distrust and spite for trump.

However, guys who pulled triggers are in the minority in the military. Most guys in the Air Force don't as well as most Navy guys (at least in Iraq). Huge swaths of the Army are support people who are "fobbits" and never face combat either.

These vets, who never saw combat or what it can do, I'm willing to bet are the ones who are quick to vote republican.

They are sworn to defend the Constitution and obey the lawful orders of the President.

Failing to obey lawful orders gets them in trouble.

However, obeying unlawful orders ALSO gets them in trouble.

So, legally, they have no room for following or not following a Presidents orders out of preference of that President. They have laws to follow or face a military court.

We are all supposed to follow laws. It's much more stringent in the military.

There's good reason for it to be more stringent in the military. As there is good reason for much more flexibility in civilian life. The two, in my mind, work in concert.

To fight against domestic is against the law. I had been taught in school that the domestic part meant fighting against those who wanted to turn this country into a dictatorship yet it is being allowed by law. I am getting this feeling that our forefathers did not think this through enough, they tried but it still seems lacking.

Enemies domestic could be, say, a large group that rises and attempts to overthrow DC through force of arms. An order to fight against that would likely be legal.

On the other hand, enemies domestic could be, hypothetically, a group of people who get into office and attempt to impose a, let's say, fascist regime from within, causing the people to object with protests to the point of a revolt.

The tricky bit would be how well the military brass understand the situation. In some conversations on such topics I've had (not with highly levels, mind you) I've been impressed. Don't count them out.

Congress already has what it needs to impeach Trump. This can and should all be handled lawfully and politically.

State police enforce the laws of the state.

Federal laws are enforced by the federal law enforcement agencies.
