Aides told Politico that Steve Bannon, the presidents chief strategist, and Stephen Miller, the senior White House advisor for policy, have made almost no effort to consult with federal agency lawyers or lawmakers as they wrote executive orders.
Bannon, the former chairman of Breitbart, and Miller, a Republican political operative whos written most of Trumps major speeches, are writing many of the orders based on ideas that came from transition officials or landing teams who werent working in the White House.
The orders have come so quickly, and from seemingly out of nowhere, that aides sometimes arent even sure which actions Trump will sign until they cross his desk.
The quick pace gives the appearance of momentum as the Trump administration gets up and running, but legal experts are concerned the White House is issuing flawed orders that might be unworkable, unenforceable or even illegal, the website reported.

(6,930 posts)Bannon knows their time is short. Trying to create as much chaos as possible in the brief time he has. What I don't know, is why. Nazi? Nihilist? Leninist? Insane? All of the above? As well as drunk on power and probably grain alcohol. This is the nasty little toady we need to focus on getting out of our government first.
First Bannon, then Ryan, then underPence, then tRump. That would leave us with Orrin Hatch, who is abominable but probably not batshit evil.

(9,808 posts)Pence is likely to get mired in the same tar pit that pulls Gold-plate Glioma down. He's tried hard, but he's been too close to the campaign/transition to be clean. Plus Pence has the same sort of pending ethics/corruption case on-going in Indiana that brought down... dun-dun-daaaaah... Spiro Agnew. (I'm shocked.)
There's nothing right now that potentially takes down Ryan, so it's counterproductive strategy to go down that trajectory. He may be a zombie eyed granny starver, but he's careful to contain his corruption to the legal bribery types. And he wants a long career, so he's going to play by the rules and do the rehab necessary.
Two are topping, one is going to teeter, but the last one is on the far side of the frame. But getting him out of the house and into the bench-warmer seat? His district doesn't have a deep bench, because he's young. Snotty Walker will appoint a crony to finish his term, so likely to be as wasteful of molecules, but Snotty's got himself some ethics problems, too, and without a deep bench? That means that seat is actually up for grabs. We'd need to run someone who presents as a conservative Dem, but that's okay.
And Bench-warmer to unelected seat holder? Well... ask Gerald Ford how that went.

(6,930 posts)you mentioned Agnew. I think getting the corrupt veep out of the way first is a good plan, and I agree with you there is plenty to get him out on, if the emails he's fighting so hard to hide are any indication.
My thinking on Bannon was if we get him out, then Trump will truly be floundering. Trump has no idea what's in the Constitution, has no idea what he can and can't do, Bannon is the mastermind and getting him out will expose Trump for the complete imbecile he is.
So...a trajectory of Pence, then Trump/Bannon , works for me. It leaves us with Ryan as president, but possibly he'll be a little careful at that point.

"Eugenie Scott, executive director of the National Center for Science Education, dubbed this approach the Gish Gallop, describing it as "where the creationist is allowed to run on for 45 minutes or an hour, spewing forth torrents of error that the evolutionist hasn't a prayer of refuting in the format of a debate." She also criticized Gish for failing to answer objections raised by his opponents. The phrase has also come to be used as a pejorative to describe similar debate styles employed by proponents of other, usually fringe beliefs, such as homeopathy or the moon landing hoax."
