One key question of the Trump presidency in its first week is: who is actually going to perform the tasks associated with the job?
While the liberal comedians and right-wing pundits agitate themselves about crowd sizes, odd tweets and imaginary voter fraud, Politico and the Hill supply some data points about the all-important paper flow in Washington. Steve Bannon, the former Goldman Sachs executive-turned-Breitbart news chief, is running the government, while the president argues with actresses.
Politico reports that the executive orders Trump has been signing were prepared and coordinated by Bannon. Various Cabinet secretaries and congressional leaders were not consulted, according to the story. Such procedural corner-cutting is not inconsequential when it comes to spending $25 billion of taxpayer funds or running the CIA.
But whatever the eventual costs, the current reality seems to be that Bannonnot his White House rivals, chief of staff Reince Priebus or Vice President Mike Pencedecides what piece of paper gets put in front of Donald Trumps pen.
The Breitbartization of the White House comes as no surprise to people at the conservative news site.

Has thrown covert support behind the right wing parties in Europe in an attempt to destabilize.
What is happening here is probably beyond his sweetest dreams.

(15,276 posts)It's interesting that he had 2 voting addresses, 1 FL and 1 NY. Many members of the Navy, in which Bannon served, use FL as a home address because there's no state income tax. OTOH, NY state does have a state income tax. We know he voted in NY state and just recently scrubbed his FL voter registration. It's worth looking into to see if he has been paying state income taxes in NY. If not, there might be a state case for tax evasion.

(2,654 posts)"Bannon's second marriage was to Mary Louise Piccard, a former investment banker, in April 1995. Their twin daughters were born three days later.[88]
Bannon was charged with misdemeanor domestic violence, battery and dissuading a witness in early January 1996, after Piccard accused Bannon of domestic abuse. The charges were later dropped when his now ex-wife did not appear in court.[89] In an article in The New York Times, Piccard stated her absence was due to threats made to her by Bannon and Bannon's lawyer:
Mr. Bannon, she said, told her that "if I went to court he and his attorney would make sure that I would be the one who was guilty"... Mr. Bannons lawyer, she said, "threatened me," telling her that if Mr. Bannon went to jail, she "would have no money and no way to support the children." ... Mr. Bannons lawyer ... denied pressuring her not to testify.[90]
Piccard and Bannon divorced in 1997. During the divorce proceedings, Piccard also stated that Bannon had made antisemitic remarks about choice of schools, saying that he did not want to send his children to The Archer School for Girls because there were too many Jews at the school and Jews raise their children to be "whiny brats".
